heard they fired a dispatcher in phi for using drugs, came in and gave him a drug test and then sent him home. is there any truth to this story. lets here from some phi drivers.
 
Shouldn't matter for a dispatcher. Might have been a driver on light duty.

Although they do not regularly drug test office personnel, it is still against company policy to use drugs no matter what position you are in. They are still subject to a drug test when the company thinks they may be using.
 
Hired at will, subject to anything the company wants to subject them to. That would include discharge just for suspicion without drug test.

Very true,we had a dispatcher in HTF that was drinking on the job, making mistakes constantly. Eventually they tested him and gave him the option of resigning.

i would bet any amount of money that what you are saying maybe right technically, i would bet the farm that if r&l were to fire someone for suspicion without being tested, they would get sued period. and i guarantee you they would lose. there are things that can legally be done to protect people from nonsense like that om employers. im not saying in every instance, but accusing someone of being intoxicated, this firing them without proof would be one.
besides that i doubt r&l would do that anyway. im the last to stick up for them, but i know other people who got in similar jams and r&l actually did at least give them the option of getting help
 
About 8 years ago RL hired some sooper dooper hotrod safety guy.

He traveled the cuircut looking at everyones feet, he'd look you in the face then about snap his neck looking down to see if you had your steal toed shoe's on!
Funny if you brought up a subject other than safety shoe's he'd say "thats for another discussion down the road". Guy was a work of art, LOL!

Well he poked around everyones feet at the Denver yard for several days, the guy told the wrong driver the wrong thing, that driver looked at him and said he'd respect him if he could pass a drug test.
The guy left the next day, never was heard from or seen again in Denver.

A week after his neck snapping visit to Denver we got word from wilmington that he had been fired! Yep a random drug test got him!!!

True Story!!!

Dennis. yes he was fired for pill popping. i heard it in his voice all the time as a customer. drivers knew what was going on. sending multiple drivers to same locations. heard he was so stoned he came in the to work the following day after getting canned cos he didnt realize he got fired. in the end lets just hope he gets back on his feet and quits abusing narcotics.
 
They should come to my terminal. They would be looking for 2 new dispatchers and a new atm. If a driver picks up totes and customer does not have bulk placards, our dispatcher tells the driver to use the flip placards on trailer and if driver refuses shipment he will be written up or pulled from his run. Does the samething with returns and tells drivers to deliver driver collects without a check or auth #. This guy is a joke and a ⓇⒶⒸⒾⓈⓉ. Both dispatchers love to use the N word. I guess ignorance will never stop, But he is friends with RM and ATM. I guess that's why he gets away with it. They just hate drivers at my terminal. TM is good though, treats us pretty good but just doesn't listen to us at times about dispatcher.

sad news, rumor has it that dennis was found dead in his home today. cause of death at this time is not known but one can only speculate. is there anyone that confirm this rumor?
 
yes he did pass away.
next time you pop that vicodin or perc remember it can over whelm you and your life can spiral out of control before you know it.
