I just recieved my cdl and I am going to start with swift on monday. I have heard good and bad things about them. I am willing to work as hard as I have to to make as much as money as possible. I just would like to know what I am getting myself into. Any help would be nice and than you

All I can say is just about every company has it's good points and bad. Swift along with other companies that hire new drivers do it for one reason....cheap labor and govt kick backs. My best advice would be to go in with a good attitude and even if your not loving it stick it out for a year. That way you will have a little experience under your belt when looking for another job. Also no matter where you go to work it will take a while to learn all the ropes and maximize your earning potential with that certain company. So just be patient. And one other thing....above all else. Your dispatcher controlls when and where you go so don't bite the hand that feeds you. I'm not saying let him/her crap all over you but also try not to **** them off too much. Good luck!!!

i have been at swift for just a bit over 6 months, my frist 2-3 months i frigging hated the place, but now that i bought my own truck(from lone mountain not swift never lease a truck thought the company you work for!!!!!) but now my miles are picking up and my money is vastly better. i think i will stick it out for 3-4 years then move on, i still have lots to learn. but this is something that is not for everyone. by week 7 most new hires in swift has quit or been fired.

just know that the frist month after you solo out your runs will be short and your miles will never go over 1800 mile, but after that it gets better.

Well, it's 3 months later.... How you holdin' up? I'm looking to contact Swift this week, I only have my permit, but can't afford to go to a school here so would like to go through a company to get my CDL. was recommended to come over to this thread.
