Yellow | Freight Levels at your barn

Then why are competitors hiring? All the changes i been thru they manipulate freight at will.

Who is hiring, and for what??? Do you think the economy is good? Unemployment over, or near 8% for 5 straight years. 10 million less people working now then at the end of 2008.

id say we lost nearly 300 from Stroudsburg 120 since this started and had casuals working ,dock can say more about this but id say they lost 100-150 from Kernersville and since the merge 150 never got called back from charlotte but have casuals working there too.more like a kick in the nuts than a slap in the face

Looking to hire at least 5 city and a few road here. Outbound is over 1.4 million pounds per night inbound averages 1060 bills per day.

I know, crazy. We have over 150 guys in layoff from the dock. The company seems to think that they don't have enough manpower to get through the freight and want to work casuals. They have the manpower but would rather play games. I don't agree with this at all and just goes to show what kind of company we work for (own). DS

I just checked the ABF site, they have openings for road drivers at five terminals and city drivers at ten terminals, so they might be hiring, but not at very many barns.

I guess the same situation is playing over and over at other barns.
What can WE do about it?
Management runs our barn, light on labor, and then complain no one will answer their phone.
That is their reasoning behind bringing in cartage and casual labor.
I know for a fact if management would post enough physical bids, the laid-off employees would return to work without a problem.
After all this "flexibility," then management wonders why no one is willing to work OR for all that matters, why even answer the phone.
We actually had a supervisor tell an employee "be lucky you have a job" 2 weeks ago.
Little does he realise, he will be seeking out employment elsewhere, just like us.

Idiot management are the ones who are lucky to have a job. If this company closes, the freight doesn't dissapear. The will be a need for drivers to haul the freight. Other companies already have clipboard monkeys, managers, and other supervisory clowns in place. They won't need them. So next time explain to him how HE is lucky to have a job.

we proved many years ago we could do the job better without all most all of them , so what did they do , fudged all the #s and made up all kind of bs to keep their jobs.

So, YRC Freight is hiring in some places also. But, overall the ECONOMY is still stagnant; to flat.

Nobody was talking about the economy. Someone said competitors are hiring. You asked who. Two examples were given. Get over youself missy.
