Is it about time now that we start looking at getting a union in this place. The road has just taken it big time up the azz today with the purple pecker promise. These idiots in charge have totally fdup this company. They tell us in the meeting that these changes will make us more profitable, but who gives a shat if none of us are left here. They keep giving our freight to the purchase and railroad. We were both making money before the merger and now all they have done is destroy the companies that we were before. I just wish these jackasses would sell us to someone who has some sence about how to run a LTL carrier. If we dont act soon there will be none of us left here and all you will see is purchase trailers on these yards. GO UNION !!!!! and to Fred and all your boys:fingure:

Uh,no.

List for me,if you will, the Ltl carriers that are union, and kicking ass right now.

Ill wait..

In the meantime. Feast on this: It will be a cold day in an oven,in hell, before I hand over a portion of my paycheck to a company, just so they can use the funds to back political agendas.

Well the guys at our center that are pushing for a union are the ones that take hour naps and take forty minutes to get to the terminal when they are 5 minutes away! Yup those are future union workers!
Yeh probably those 300 plus people getting screwed are all lazy too and should be gone. Drink the koolaide and Fred sends his love.

I don't see how a union would save anyone's jobs. Oh, maybe we're talking about the same people that look to the US Government to protect them and hand out free food and cellphones to them!? I'm seeing a common mentality here.

My Dad retired from BNSF so I know what kinds of things he had to deal with in a union company. No thanks.

roog

I say Union Yes! They say we will be more profitable, but the drivers won't see one thin dime of that. We will continue to see healthcare outpace raises,we have nothing to lose.

There are 2 things affecting the job here at FXF.... 1 is Purchase Transportation and the other is the RailRoad... Neither of the two things can be changed with a Union..
If I am not mistaken, all the Union carriers use purchase and railroad too.

They're limited on how much purchase they can use though. We can't even consider our company stable anymore. Actually the company is stable, the job is not.

If the economy ever turns around the need for speed will be back once again but right now, everyone is going for price and the rail is cheaper for the company... Do I like it? of course not... Can anything be done about it... No... The customer determines the service they need not the employees.

Exactly what I've been saying, I just hope it's before we're all gone.

Well...I am glad the union is not allowing any changes that affect workers at another carrier right now. Are they?!?

Irrelivent to union intervention.

Fact is,the new CNG and LNG units are the future. Cleaner, cheaper, and just as powerful. Fedex would be well advised to stay well ahead of the curve in terms of this. There will come a day in the future where large companies will be forced to pay penalties for running old, polluting trucks.

So if a union carrier has a change of ops the drivers get to follow the freight and maintain their seniority. If fxf has a change of ops the drivers MIGHT get to follow the freight and go to the bottom of the board?? If a union driver gets layed off they have recall rights, which means that the have to be called back before hireing .If a fxf driver gets layed off that's it! Your done really?? Need I say more...

There is no good answer to the ongoing loss of work!! I've been here almost 20 yrs an I don't feel anymore secure than the day I hired! I'm tired of wondering when my time is up but nothing equal or better out there! At least I haven't found it. To all losing jobs you an your families are in my prayers!!!

Amen driver

Sure, that's what we need, one more layer of incompetent bureaucracy.

We can all see how the YRC brass trembles at the thought of the mighty union bosses.

Please. Your argument is about as deep as a recently broken up with 13yr old boys love song.

Right off the bat, explain to me why you are cool with forking over a piece of YOUR money to a company for the illusion of "protection"?
Why are you cool with that company, taking that money and using it to gain political favor, regardless if its in your best interest?

I have worked under a union blanket. Did so for 3 years at KCS. I remember election time. Every office, bathroom, and breakroom had a huge poster of Bill Clinton hung in it. You know who paid for that? I did. To hell with that.

Better yet, let's use a little thing called facts, numbers and history.

History has/is/will prove that ALL of the union Ltl carriers have failed. Opinion be damned. Look at the current state of union carriers. My father in law retired from YRC. Look at their state, they have been in constant decline for some time now. Pay cuts, shabby equip, terminals being downsized or closed altogether. If your argument is FOR a union,YRC would be a poor example. So,who has proven,in the Ltl business to be both successful, and union?
