Dot knock it that's the best air conditioning 1957 can buy! This brings me to a question... Why are we reinventing the wheel? This company used to make money hand over fist with little subservice, no safe stack, and more competitom from other carriers that used to be in business. What the heck changed?

WOW!! That brings back old memories!! How about both windows down No Radio and No Power Steering!! Now that was LEAN but the JOB was a JOY back then: you was appreciated as a driver!!

I didn't know those fans actually worked! That is pretty neat, ours just flop around every which way while rattling and scratching the windshield.

Back in '95, I had to cushion to pick up another city tractor. When I got back, the FOS asked me how the tractor was. I said "Great it has air conditioning: a little fan on the dash."

Hard to believe that 1995 is looked at as "back in the day".

When I started, we had CWT going to California. Those drivers would come onto the dock and check on their loads just we did.. I don't remember any other carriers..then they slowly moved in..now you cant tell who is coming or going or who they work for..

I know they used to run teams to El Paso and Denver..and idk where else.

I remember being flex pd driver in one of those old junker ccx 432's with a fan like that on the dash. Never worked anyway. Lol never again..I hate P/D.

Boy those were for sure the day. Trucks that would get blown off the road by our city trucks draggingg 35k lbs, rubber block suspension would be a nicety, all for the same wages as today's pay scale!

But they had a blast doing it. Of course, I'm sure there were plenty of negative fuks to ruin it for the guys who really liked their job..so not much has really changed...

Back in the day we had better (=common sense & freight smarts) managers, supervisors, presidents and CEO's.
We hired experienced drivers, Not to say we don't get some good drivers from our truck driving schools now, just not as many.
We got more done with less. That was true lean, not this B.S. lean they are trying to slam down our throats now.
It starts at the top. We are only playing by their rules, and the rules we play by now are nowhere near the rules we played by then, The rules that made us so successful.
