Vitran will be closing 7 terminals in western US August 1st. Guess this is the last effort to save the
US operation. Closing terminals will be:
LAX
FRO
DEN
LVS
SAC
RNO
PHX

Thank you to all AF/FDX management. You fouled up Viking, destroyed Watkins, now you're messing this cluster all to heck. When will you Gordon Gecko types really figure out how to do business the RIGHT way?

Pjax was perfectly fine until the big V bought them. I feel so bad for the people that are losing their jobs. Hopefully the rest can leave by choice

Well the bad thing was my wife and I got back from Hawaii on Sunday went back to work Monday then found out about this place . Typical Vitran a day late and a doller short. If they would said something a month ago I would have 4000 more dollers in my bank.:Emoticon_digging:

Not a chance....Texas economy is smoking hot right now....The D-FW and Houston area is an untapped region that could help save this company. Believe it or not our bill count has been going up rapidly. The new VP of sales is hiring right now. We had a meeting this morning and he said this will really help the company....He said the west was losing 3 million a month. He also said that the 60+ almost new tractors will start to move east and that will help greatly as well. He said that they can now start to focus on the Midwest and east. He could be laying down a bunch of cock and bull but he seemed well informed....He said Vitran was on track and they knew 2013 was going to be a bust....They knew when they started this it would take several years to turn around....He predicted 2014 to be Vitrans year....And before you start....I'm just the messenger so don't shoot the Train. Again I'm not saying I buy any of what he said. But he said it in a meeting today with most of our drivers.

And we know the reasons.....For me personally my booty is getting sore and a bit loose.....So I will be joining you as soon as I find the right opportunity.

it took over a year of pounding the pavement to get this, but i do think it is worth it. to all those that are left, be careful with your future by keeping options open, debts low, and think about what you are getting paid based on stress and being a "problem solver"

I knew you would be one of the first to leave....You have always been the go to guy for info so don't forsake us when we need to call on your expertise. We will join you soon but until that day comes please help us good ole boys out well needed.

95% of the drivers at my place i like, told them they can call anytime they need my help. it is not for vitran, i just feel for the (former brother/sister) vitran drivers

After you leave I will send you a PM from time to time to check on you and ask your opinions on certain issues. And although we have never met i feel as if i know you. And I consider you a man of vast knowledge....We all have certain strengths and weaknesses. I'm a bit too philosophical at times. While you are pragmatic with the straight hard facts. And tell us accordingly the best way to go. Sometimes the truth hurts but you and larmar and many many others don't pull any punches. And you got to respect that. I may not like this company much...But my brothers and sisters here at Vitran make this unbearable job at times....BEARABLE.

There are companies that pay better and would love to have a quality line or pd driver. If you are at one of the terminals closing get online at the company websites. Specifically the other ltl carriers you see out there at shippers or on the road. They need drivers!

The problem with Vitran is thier placement. There not regional or national. There not low cost or high priority.
They have a horrible foot print. They cover every state in the SE but LA, AR and FL.
It will help them by closing the west coast but there money pit is there lack of terminal density. They run Texas on 4 terminals? 150 mile peddle runs.
Which half the state isn't even serviced directly. So that's agent deliveries which is an extra 2-3 days.
It's stupid. Plus they drive 2+ hours through two states they don't even cover to get to TX or from TX.
Waisted money. There rates are simply not high enough to cover that cost.
You can't run Vitran like a FedEx....
West coast closing will not keep Vitran from losing money. The management is horrible! From CK to VP to Safety to OSD is a joke.
Pure waisted money letting them do whatever they want...
Work from home, don't come in, leave at noon...it's a joke
I give them til first qtr 2014 unless keylon is gone
