What happens next? How will the union address the issues? They obviously thought we will take anything thrown at us, but what changes will they address? I personally have many issues I'd like addressed. So does anyone experienced with this stupid game have any insights??

If it does fail... It is a long shot ups or the union will let it happen. They will have 1 month to try and come up with something. If it takes longer than that we will work under this contract (extension) until they come up with a contract that passes. There will be no strike. We can't strike contractually.

VOTE NO!!!

Your no vote is also a strike vote; if I am not mistaken...IMHO.

No it's not,................It would have had to have been worded as such on the ballot and it wasn't,..........

We would have to have a strike authorization vote before the Union could call a strike,..........

Just wondering how they will know what we want addressed, what changes we want? At some point you would think they would want to know, right? (I know, like they care)

I think they know what we want. Better language, a moving forward contract. Not a concession contract. No more contractors or everyone works before contractor use. Better healthcare and retirement .

We were told by our leadership if we voted no he would see us on the street. I think they have plan B on the table before the vote is done. At this point I don't think UPS is ever going to give much.

I would hope they have another meeting with us at the local level to ask us, known them they will lay out the new contract proposal and say what do you want changed out of this, instead of asking us what needs to be changed period.

sure we can, the current contract says we cant strike, meaning that under that deal we cant strike.
if that deal expires and they don't give us something to vote yes on, we can strike because we will no longer be under the terms of the old contract. that wont happen though, a strike would mean a end to the company pretty much, there are to many other ltl companies out there to take our customers.
if we did strike , when we came back we would loose so much business that most of the employees would be on the street just from the customers we would loose.

That is why voting is a waste of time. We should all just take what they want to give us like the nonunion companies do. After all everything we got in the country was handed to us right. We didn't have to fight for anything. I'm amazed this is a free country. Wait that is changing to...

You are no doubt a yes vote...

i voted no, i want to see the backup they have incase this one fails to get a yes.

the LHD possition, as well as this both need to go.
Article 26
Wages page 24
Employees bidding into a new fulltime Non-CDL position after August 1, 2013, shall be paid eighty percent (80%) of the progression rates in (c) above. Once the progression is completed the employee shall receive eighty percent (80%) of the Top Rate.
there is no reason anyone should take a 20% pay cut just for taking a non cdl bid. that means any city driver or dock cdl employee that takes a straight dock or jockey bid on the 6 month bid will be paid only 80% of top rate . ...which is just ********.

OK, It sounded to me like you was suggesting vote no. I'm glad I misunderstood you. :usa2:

I want to see some job security for all employees. Don't tell us that we will be paid X amount of money and then say we can't afford to pay that so we will subcontract or use LHD.

Yes! That is the thing about this contract I just can't believe. Nothing spelled out in writing. We already seen what UPS can do with a contract like the first one. And the union thinks we a stupid enough to agree to another one. They will still have subcontractors and DLH board.
We still pay for our medical when parcel and other teamster ltl companies don't. Have better coverage I might add.
Oh I forgot we in the west have the option for Kaiser insurance. I wouldn't take my German Shepard there. Can't wait to see the outcome. I really don't trust the teamsters to be truthful about the votes. Hope I'm wrong. But I think there might be a few thousand Parcel ballots mixed in with ours.

Back in the day when I was working for a LTL company under the National Master Freight Agreement.
Any time any of the contracts when the Teamsters endorsed it,telling us it was the best we'd get.
It always seemed to pass with a large majority of the vote.

Even though after it passed,I would ask many of my union brothers from other LTL's if they voted for it.
With most saying no way it was a bad deal, either they were not saying,or something mighty fishy was going on.

So we will see how it goes, with this contract.

I know it's sad you can't believe the union or the brothers. One thing for sure we all will have to live with it.
Good to hear from you my brother...

By the way you can see how I voted by my avatar... :usa2:
I will keep this Avatar till after we get the results...
