For example: Our pay check stubs show that the company has taken out the dues, however the local has not received payment yet!!! Here in KC 2 members were off on personal injury, just came back, neither had paid dues while off, neither had received a ballot, their checks were just withheld, however the local has not gotten payment and will not by next Tuesday, the deadline.. In order for them to get a ballot in the mail from the International and to be "legal to vote" they must go to the local and get current by Tuesday!! A pay check stub showing the dues taken out by the company will not work!!!! I know it is stupid, makes no sense and is the most ridiculous thing ever heard of, but it is fact... These 2 men want to vote No,, disagree with this all and will have to get it all worked out somehow in the future... Perhaps this is what the Union and ABF wants.... Little Quirks to help win this battle.... Pass this info on, it is truth.... This info from Local 41 dues Dept

OK, now we're making a little progress. While off on comp one should attain a withdraw card if it is going to be an extended leave. If it is less than a month there would be no problem. However, dues is not taken out of worker's comp payments. Off for more than a month and dues fall into arrears, two or three months and you win a suspension, which takes a little more to resolve. Many workers fall victim to this as it has to be taken care of personally and many either forget, neglect it or just don't know. If there had been no break in service I would expect the pay stub to suffice. And yes this would leave the worker scrambling and having been out of work probably a little short on cash to pay the dues.

dues are only taken out of your paycheck, not workers comp check, or short or long term disability check. the member should have went tot he hall and filled out a with drawl card till he went back to work as stated above.

I listed one scenario, a paycheck stub does still not constitute nor substitute a dues receipt... which in turn officially validates a Teamsters membership and the rights that go along with it.. Many contracts differ, employer disputs/negotiations, withdraws of dues/fees may not get paid to keep dues current thus not constituting a validated membership! Must have a dues receipt.. The original question about a stub,, the local is wrong!! must have a dues receipt,,, if you have not gotten a ballot, make sure your issue is resolved by Tuesday 6/18 or you will not get one, period!! Active employees that do not vote are a YES VOTE!!!

I'm not so sure I'd take a withdrawal card while out in comp. UPS just might terminate before you reinstate. Just realized I'm on the ABF board lol

They are? How so?

no ballot as of yet 6 - 17 unexcusable..

I made a bad post. UPSF ballots are due 6/20 & I understand some have not received one yet. Doubt they can get it in on time unless they pay for overnight mail. ABF has longer than 6/20 which i forgot was the case. Get on your local to get you one right away.
