One of our road drivers took his family on vacation this week. They went out of state about 4 hours away. One of our ops managers called him, and from what the driver said, demanded that he come in the next day for a random **** test. Since when can they demand you come in on your vacation for a random? We asked our other ops manager and he said they ask if you aren't busy if you could come take care of the test if it is past due. According to the driver it wasn't a request, but a demand. Is this normal around the system? I said I never would have answered my phone.

:duh:......You only have 2 hours to complete your drug sceen from the time you are told about it....This is wrong on sooooo many levels...:busted:

They CANNOT require you to do a random drug screen while on vacation. You must submit to the screen prior to returning to an on duty status. Remember that FedEx has NO control over who is chosen or when they are chosen. There are rules how tthe quorum must operate. If you are off duty prior to being told about a drug screen you must complete the screen before returning to work.

That's sure to mess up the 34 hour reset. I would mark "suspicious" for the reason, just to stir things up.

He has to go within the 2 hours. He cannot opt to not go and go when it is convenient, The whole idea is randomly be selected, chosen, directed, and then the results. They also have to be conducted within a certain amount of time provided the employee is not out for a long period of time. I am guessing this person was back from vacation and available to do a run. If this is the case, then he or she is fair game.

I'm guessing you didn't read the original post very well.

The center is scored on how high a percentage was scheduled/took the drug test. This is nothing more than a red shirt trying to make his numbers look good. he should be reported as he violated the notification procedure. Associate must be notified in person to take the test, doing so over the phone supposedly gives associate a chance to somehow obtain clean urine, call off sick, etc.
This is a classic example of how todays FXF supervision will stoop to anything to look good for snapshot (and at anybody expense, except theirs). phewwwwy, what is that bitter taste in my mouth. Oh, it is only past memories of what they WOULD HAVE LIKED ME to do.

They can not call you in for a random. They can require a random only if you are in person and available for duty.

Don't answer the phone if you are on vacation. That's your time away from the company. What if you were in China or somewhere overseas. Then maybe you can hop on a FedEx plan for free.

It was my day off, came to work (for more $$$) and yes, I was sent to go for a random. First time in 8yrs. I Joked and said, it's my day off. But as soon as you report for work, or set forth on the property, they own you.

Smoke a Blunt? it stays in your system for months. You can drop some LSD, or smoke some Angel Dust. Only last 2-3 days Look it up! (Google)
