Pardon the intrusion here everyone, but last night on my nightly foray back and forth along I-70, I encountered purchase transportation dragging your trailers where I normally see Vitran tractors pulling them. Is this a new trend or are they just picking up some slack ? The driver I encountered on the fuel island at the Love's in Ellis, KS. was a non-English speaking Eastern European, and was no help in satisfying my curiousity. Just wondering, thanks and have a great weekend everyone!

We closed terminals west of KS, turning freight over to agents. He may have just been a contract truck bring some of our equipment east for re-locating.

Not wanted is correct. However, purchase carriers are taking our runs in the east and midwest too. There is no "slack" to take up. We keep losing freight.

Well here in Chicago/ bensenville we are normally running purchase guys at least 4. One turns mem, on teams to hbg and back, one does a msp meet, one turns toledo everyday and one runs kan and the heads out west. Chicago, aurora and markham all run purchasers regularly. We are getting screwed cause they take several trailers a day while our guys sit at home.

i heard the transportation of equipment from the closing west terminals to their destinations will cost around $175k.

I know of a Hill Brothers driver doing one on I 80 from Omaha.

I don't think it will cost 175,000 to ship equipment back east from the west. We pull 90% Vitran equipment east and haul lease trailers west going to lax most are brand new trailers for company's out west. Las Vegas your is slowly emptying. I don't think it will last till aug 3.
