I pulled up today on my route to a residence for a delivery it was 90plus degrees & humid. The customer came out to greet me & explain that she wanted her delivery up her driveway into her garage. I lowered her 8ft pallet of flooring weighing 1,000lbs to the ground. The following is totally true conversation between her & I
Customer: Where is your helper?
Me: I don't have a helper Ma'am
Customer: What about a motorized jack?
Me: I don't have one Ma'am
Customer: Well how in the world do they expect you to do this?
Me: They just do Ma'am I'll do my best & well see how we do.
After getting the pallet as far up the driveway as possible we sat there on the pallet waiting for my PDA to reboot so she could sign the delivery
Customer: This is crazy that they expect you to do this by yourself
Me: That isn't the crazy part Ma'am...The crazy part is that my fellow workers just voted to do this for a 7% pay cut & 1 less vacation week a year
Customer: that is INSANE !!
Me: Indeed it is Ma'am,indeed it is !!

This is a true story that took place today on my run 7-12-13
 
No I do not work in Jersey, Yes she did tip me & my branch was 10-1 NO and as I said before it was a true conversation sad but true
 
Yep, to many creepers on this site... to bad its for all the wrong reasons....oh ya welcome back....
Particularly with a user name like ex driver, he has some reason to creep around here. TY on the WB.
 
When arriving back at the barn, did dispatch ask you "What did you do all day?"
Na, they ask that one when we're not around, as if one of the office jackasses will have the answer. But they do accuse us of hurting our backs at home while swimming, mowing the grass and washing our cars then coming in and claiming it got broken at work.

They ask us that throughout the day as they follow us on the GPS in the PDA'S.....but when we get back to our barn you already have a manifest waiting for you in the window to dispatch you back out. There is no way for us to make up the money lost in the 7% because we all already work 60 hours a week
 
An injustice has been perpetrated against all of us.Ok so when McReynolds was a CFO at ABF the company was doing ok.Now that she moved up to CEO.The company is saying they are struggling.Well,I would either say put McReynolds back to CFO or fire her altogether as a negligent President and CEO.Since when does the labor have to pay for faulty leadership in the company?Board of directors used to fire Presidents and CEOs for bad performances
 
If I was on the other side of the fence I'd be applauding her for fleecing the labor force.

Want to hear what is truly funny. Our barn has WC photos of violators and flyers via the Federal Law, but yet our TM was off for 3 months on chemotherapy treatment (collecting SSA/Disability?) although employees saw him in the office every Saturday!

That was the whole idea behind this contract, Brother Seamus20.......A 5 year agreement? Eliminating the COLA? Expansion of sub-contracting,....because apparently, we don't have enough employees to cover what work we have....All that is designed to keep us older drivers working longer and harder,.....and they left the Pension and Health and welfare alone.....that would be the "carrot" on the stick. We're supposed to grit our teeth for the next 5 years, and mutter to ourselves "Pension....No co-pay for H&W.." while we watch wages for the non-Union carriers go 3, 4 , or maybe 5 dollars an hour higher than ours in their quest to keep drivers....qualified drivers. There is a driver shortage now,.......and the non-Union LTL carriers were hiring refugees from the truckload side.....90%-100% turnover in some companies,....there has been a driver shortage all though this so-called "recession",....but trucking was the only "job" in town when you lost your factory job. As the economy heats up,......people to fill seats in truckload will be mighty scarce,.....non-Union LTL carriers will lose their source of "refugees" from truckload.......and CDL Drivers with HAZ-MAT, Doubles, Triples, Tanker.....SHOULD be able to name their own price. Only 25% of CDL holders have HAZ-MAT. We are a HOT Commodity. And the IBT......in it's infinate..(infinitesimal)..wisdom,....has allowed ABF to lock us into a crippling wage package that DOES NOT reflect how the economy....the marketplace.....will value drivers. Does anyone think the IBT will ask ABF to re-open the contract if wages go $5.00 an hour higher than ours?....Yeah,.....right.....

......Maybe I'll start wearing dark sunglasses and carrying a tin cup and tap an old white fiberglass CB aerial on the ground as I get out of the truck. I already look old and feeble.......maybe that'll increase my tip level up 7%........
 
I'm sure that Judy and her cronies were laughing at us "Teamsters" for accepting their first offer. I guess ABF didn't have a plan "B".
 
Have you guys yet received your very own ABF Restructuring Term Sheet like we did at YRC?Even though your last vote on a contract was illegal(collusion).The final tally and contract should be null and void pending an investigation on the aforementioned.Plus the CEO and President of ABF should be removed because of her inability to make the company profitable without artificial elements such as pay cuts.She was a good CFO.not a good Predident and CEO it seems.All of you should demand her removal

They won't get ANYTHING like that. ABF teamsters voted to ratify a NEW agreement, not modify an existing one.
