I believe companies are convinced that the drivers are looking to screw them to death. In 22 years I only worked for 1 company that actually took drivers suggestions and put them to work.
My company is no different than yours, its all about the numbers, we all know that to idle for a few short minutes while hooking wastes less fuel than shutting the truck off 7 times and restarting it, then there is engine wear and tear, but idle percentage is something the big shots want to see in the low range, be danged the other problems that can occur trying to get that low number.
I used to get frustrated when I knew there was a wreck and was told I couldn't go around it, a driver ought to be able to make that decision on his or her own, after all both our companies want professionals, why they feel the need to micro manage us to death is beyond me. It convinces me that they believe all of us are thieves or screw offs waiting in the bushes for an opportunity to take advantage.
