6 brandy new 'Shakers sitting in the back of the shop in CLT (Charlotte NC) waiting to be in serviced. Numbers start with 14***. Didn't notice a DEF tank but it could be hidden. No idea of running gear or outfitted. Just a quick drive by on my way to the scale.

If we're getting freightliner in it means we're going to one board and our insurance is going up and we're losing all our long runs!!!!

Red-headed Cummins under the bonnet, Aweful-matic transmissions, gear selector on the steering column just to the right of the steering wheel...R N D L . Nothing mounted on the floor or side of seat like the others we are used to. DEF tank is under the cab under the driver's seat . There is a stainless steel panel that folds toward you ( 'tween the bottom of the cab and the steps ) that lowers and exposes the tank and other "stuff". Is held in the closed/up position by a magnetic latch. Two fuel tanks with rubber "pads" on the aft ends of the tanks to keep the tanks for getting chewed up by debris.

NO key that I had fit the door locks and I have them all. Still have my original 2200 AF issued key from 13+ years ago. Like an RC key, it's a bit bent but works. Propane cages at CLT take the 2200 keys. Either the Freightliners haven't been keyed alike yet (unlikely) or you'll have to scrounge and score your own. All in all not a bad looking ride. Lot's of "doo-dad" switches on the dash.

II have drove a few cascadias I didnt mind them they were ryders trucks but nice trucks quiet rode nice they were screws had a nice wide seat very comfortable better than those national POS in the new kw,s ...

Butter, rumor has it that they've switched from a ten speed automatic to a 13. My Volvo has the 12 speed auto-manual. Any more details on your end?

Thanks,

ST

theres 12 freightliners in Atlanta. I was assigned one the other night. It does have a Def tank. Cummins with a really nice automatic transmission. A lot better of a truck than the other freight shaker I was in for the last couple of years.

I've reached out to my spy network but nothing yet. :)

I saw a brand new twin screw Volvo, R14214 I think, it was on it's way out of KCY when I was coming into work so it must be a STL tractor I'm guessing.

Here is the only Freightliner I've got pics of, from the Chairman's Challenge in IND.

Roog, that's got to be a test tractor. FxF doesn't buy the aerodynamic side steps anymore. It's too expensive to replace when the city driver wipes it out on a yellow pole....LOL.

The new T680 I drove last week had aero steps, we'll see how long they last. :)
