Hey Guys,
From canada Here, I see runaway train and many others with postings - I find it odd, that nobody is talking about transforce Home - TransForce who owns some large shares, in Vitran already,
They will most likely buy them, when stock hits below 4 bucks - They will split the Divisions - USA separate from canada - Two corporations, so the usa, cant hurt CDN operations. What do you guys think?

Well that's all well and good.
But in the southwest or" Chris truck lines / Kansas motor"
We went through the company buying a company thing.
Some are still here and some moved on to better things.
Everyone I know that has left Vitran has always done better.
Even the guys who failed random drug tests!
I myself am weighing the idea of leaving after 9 yrs on the job.
If transforce is going to do something they will have to inform driver immediately what they are gonna do or scramble to find new drivers.

Welcome. It is great to see one of our friends to the North join the boards.

We have discussed transforce. We have also discussed the U.S. side getting spun off into a holding company so the U.S. side does not drag down Canada.

I understand the Canadian side is in far better shape than the US side. However, I have always wondered what percentage of Canada's business has the shipper or reciever in the states.

Obviously canada could use outside carriers to take care of the u.s. side. However, that costs money and there are many pitfalls with that system.

I wonder how it would affect canada for the u.s. to close.

hmm Intresting Luci, Thanks for the Welcome, I really enjoy reading the Forums - to see your views on the trucking world - Interesting times for the trucking world, lately - I am LTL sales rep North of the boarder, All the best to you all...
Lets hope tonnage and value make a comeback in late Q4 - I see ABF, and many other companies are struggling with operation loss as well... They lost 8 Mill in Q2 -

Good Post GO40.......But don't believe they will stop lying...They found a good man to fudge the numbers and cook the books....Staying just within the letter of the law. ABF has wonderful accountants.

Crossborder business is less than 2% of the total combined revenues of both companies luci, it won't matter at all.

Many of us have been saying that Canada will spin the US operations off into a stand alone entity. Vitran Canada makes money but they are a small time bit player in the Canadian marketplace. Vitran Canada calls the shots but in regards to the current company, Vitran Canada is the tail of the dog, the USA is the dog. Very few terminals and assets, mostly a brokerage operation utilizing owner operators rather than drivers employed by Vitran. Low cost model that seems to work in Canada, not so much here in the USA. I am surprised that TransForce ever bought stock in this loser, of course they have already sold a lot of shares they bought.

If this happens, and if that happens. then maybe this will happen.

I heard AAA cooper is interested in buying Vitran. Not surewhy tho. Maybe only for the customers and a few new areas to be in.

Maybe Central Transport will buy Vitran. That way all the broke @#%ks that moved over there in mass exodus will all be one big happy family again.

Really, broke dicks? You cannot be serious, we lost a number of top sales reps and operations folks that helped build PJAX Freight. Do you think any other trucking company is going to hire "broke dicks", the bottom of the barrel Vitran players? Most of the ones left at Vitran are the "broke dicks", ones either too lazy to look for a better job or simply not employable because they are "broke dicks" that no one else would want. The good ones moved on because they were a hot commodity. You are probably just pissed they didn't ask you to join them, I wish I had been asked. Heard they got pay raises and enjoy their jobs.

Folks like Runaway and others, am not making a slam at you, you are hard workers, loyal beyond the pale but the comment here by damaged goods was simply ignorant. Because people move on to a better opportunity does not make them broke dicks.

AAA could be a good prospect if the planets alined. Once vitran is spun off and there is a fire sale AAA could be interested if there were a few good accounts left, the terminals vitran owns are in cities AAA is not in, if AAA has cash on hand, if the drivers left at vitran have good driving records, and if the price is dirt cheap.

However, adding on vitran terminals would be a huge addition for aaa. I am not sure they would want to expand that quickly unless they shut downa lot of the terminals.

It would be like buying a parts car while doing a restoration. Take what you want and sell or trash the rest.

That's doubtful, especially since there would be major payback against the fedex salesmen, managers, and supervisors that replaced the Vitran/Pjax salesmen, managers, and supervisors.
