anybody in central states cover your child from their 19th birthday on? if so, what is the weekly cost, if any? i just found out my ex cant cover him so what else is new. any info would be helpful

Your best move would be to call them directly. You really can't rely on what anyone else would tell you and there might be some variables that could apply differently to different situations.

you are on the ABF forum, if you are an ABF union employee, should be zero cost. If they don't have insurance or not offered by their employer, under Obama care they are covered til 26. at least that's my case scenario, used to be they had to be a student, when the obamacare started, the student provision changed to the previous mentioned as long as they don't have insurance, full benefits like dental, vision, prescription, etc..

Brother Trubigtymer,....The Affordable Care Act,....commonly known as Obamacare,...has forced most insurance plans to cover dependent children until age 26....even if they are not in college full time. The H&W Dept. will send you an Adult Dependent Certificate for your son, however he should've been a dependent prior to your divorce, so that certificate should be automatic. Not knowing your specific circumstances,...I'm guessing that your ex-wife has an insurance plan that will increase her co-pay if she adds him on to the plan as an Adult Dependent,....and she might be balking at the cost increase. If you were paying child support, your son would've been covered under your health plan automatically, and your ex-wife should have had him removed from her plan,....that would be subrogation of insurance,....and it might've saved her some money on her co-pay for the last several years. Once again,....I don't know your specific circumstances, or even the specifics of the Central States H&W plan,....but most plans are similar when it comes to the provisions of dependents and the Affordable Care Act. Good Luck, Brother, it should just be a matter of making sure he meets the qualifications of your Plan.

One other thing , Brother. If your son picks up a job providing health care, then he is supposed to contact the H&W Dept. and have himself removed from your plan as an Adult dependent. IF he loses that job, or gets laid off and is offered COBRA insurance under HIS employers' plan,....as long as he is under age 26,....he can go back to your Plan as an Adult Dependent. Keep in mind, though,...that the coverage from most plans as an Adult Dependent is not quite the same as when your children are under age 19, or age 23 and a full-time student........Adult Dependent insurance is usually basic insurance,.....no eye care,..or dental. Check your specific plan, Brother.
