Here'a my situation. I am a road driver at a hub with a bid run that gets canceled a lot. Tonight my run was canceled. I was told I would be # 1 on the extra board with 5 extra board drivers below me. They had 1 extra run. I passed. I told them I wanted to take the night off and I was told I had to come in to work the hub. I din't believe they could force me to work the hub so I called central. I was told by central under article 15 they could force me to work the hub. Where on line can I find a copy of the elusive rule book for road drivers? I would like to read about this article 15.

I think thats what they want, us winging it. I'm just trying to find out if "they" are winging it versus following policy.

I believe the only place to find it is on the intranet with one of the computers at a center

Rodedawgs right, I honestly believe fedex changes policy at their discretion whenever thay want to.

Did you ask what runs the five other extraboard drivers took that now you as the last available extraboard had to work the hub?
I mean there might have been something nice that you missed out on and now you should file for the difference.

I'm going to get the best run off the hub. I would just like to see this so called Article 15 in writing cause I don't believe it exists.

Article 15 does exist, If you file on a run, or for any other problem that arises, they will tell you it's in article 15 in the drivers handbook!!!

Actually it is Lesson 15 and I have a copy of it in my pickup, but it's out there and I'm on my couch in my tighty whities on the couch and I ain't moving.

Article 15 does exist, it's after article 14 but before article 16, under the subsection catch 22.

if all other xtra board drivers ran and you were only one available you HAD to run it. When they cancelled you , u fall on the extra board based on extra board senoirity. As the other driver stated don't answer your phone or say that you had a glass of wine with dinner with your wife., works for me everytime. I learned LOOONG time ago when NOT to answer ur phone cause if u pick it up they will force you. Hope this answer helps.

After the 5-9 PM call block, you're not required to answer your phone. They cant force you to do jack squat if you don't answer it.

The driver manual is supposed to be in the driver room. Not to be taken off the premises in fear that a union representative from another company could get hold of all our secrets on how we are so sucksessful.

I do believe it is no longer in print, and from an above posting, is in the kiosk at your center and is monitored when used. Free to change at their will, sort of like our Constitution is now.
