Word has it that there is another change of operations happening in oct and my current center is gaining 4 runs. Operation changes are company wide right? Or can they just involve a couple centers?

Line drivers did not drive forklifts. Major hubs 400-500 miles apart. Professional dock workers. Large driver pools at the hubs. Only outsourced when system was at capacity. Truckload sales dept to help balance lanes instead of moving empties. Real time, hands on dispatch that could adjust for changes in volume instantly as opposed to bus schedules and WTF do we do when freight volumes swing. FIFO extra board as opposed to hog board.
Maximizing line potential as opposed to doing what is easiest, goes back to dispatching instead of bus schedules.
Listening to drivers that might actually know what they are talking about.

You know, old school stuff that works.

Oh yeah, the most important thing....

We charged premium prices to deliver premium service, not deliver excuses.
And we treated customers as customers, not as interruptions in our daily routine.

"Listening to drivers that might actually know what they are talking about."

Not a chance....

RC, boy what a concept! I am not sure the folks in hooterville understands what works. We are run like Express with the BIG CHEESE (LOGUE) and his ideas. I'am sure he's a good guy but sadly he listens to those that don't know the trucking industry. If the changes back to running this place like a trucking company were to return, we've must have stolen managers and smart people from Old Dominion, you know the company that runs their business like a trucking company where they understand that their customers, pay the bills, drivers move the freight and, forklift/dock workers load and unload the freight with minimal damage so their customers are happy with their SERVICE!!!. It would be nice to see things change for the better by Oct. As fo the old Knucklehead, I have a job interview with WAL-MART Transportation next week so, I thinkit might be too late for me. We have seen two terminals here in the Pac NW have long economy meet runs canx this last week and, had to do a re bid, and another terminal that the Mtn Home meet drivers tell guys that they also cut another economy meet run with another terminal but, that terminal's mgt doesn't seem to know anything about it. Guess they will find out on monday night since thats when the new bid takes place. Mtn Home (MHM) also lost two additional runs to NSL (Economy Fgt). As I said earlier, it sure would be good to see some changes back to what worked but, thats not the FEDEX way unless someone thinks they came up with the IDEA.

this is the way fed ex will be run.until somebody has a great freight idea.other carriers change we will follow.we are followers,Logue is a express guy, express plan will not work in freight, turnover, osd over the top.rc enjoy riding towmotor until retirement date,

Forklift operators that never operated a tractor with a minimum of fifteen years experience, knowing the placard/ seperation rules, Able to load eggs below bowling balls without damaging them. Utilizing every square inch of the trailer. Listening to driver concerns and being able to quickly resolve the problem without a red shirt who never worked the dock telling them to make it fit and make the cut.

If they are so concerned of the gate times, why not do what YRC does- at the cut close the door, all freight accounted for, pull it from the door and let the driver hook and go. Would be nice, but they would need a bigger extraboard, more drivers- obviously it did'nt work. Look where they are. They wouldn't agree with all the empty miles or trailers with 5 or less bills or pallets. Empties are O.K.- lately to make my cut, they just dispatch me with them, as for the freight? I guess the other driver gets it. If there is no other driver, I just miss my gate and they force my dispatch out with the brick showing I left at my gate on time. As for the other end, they think I left on time, only to show up late, getting an earful.

Dang,that gave me a chubby...

I don't think any of you dummies know what you're talking about. I'm going back to having a life perhaps you people should do the same.

Hey does anybody know if US Express is hiring. I know some guys that work at a local restaurant that are looking for a place to live. It's ok if they are out year round hauling FEDUP FREIGHT. Those road drivers at FEDUP are used to sitting at home while some camel jockey hauls their freight for them.

And a ⓇⒶⒸⒾⓈⓉ too...That person you call that will more than likely work their tail off, save and go to school, get out of the business only to start one of their own or go to school to become whatever they want- doing it legally and proudly, unassisted- becoming an American citizen knowing more than the majority of Americans who lived here all their lives. While the majority of us will do nothing and sadly stay here- most likely someday working for them.
