I work for Vitran and been hearing rumors that FedEx is considering purchasing Vitran! Anyone heard anything about this?

Oh goody more junk we would aquire or mis matched trailers and such I shouldn't say junk because the watkins stuff was ok stuff and the west trls I thought were most of the time in better condition than the east stuff....in many cases. ...

I can see all the Vitran employees on the outside looking in, nose pressed against the window holding their sign's that say Buy Me, Buy Me Now. Especially since they are closing their western terminals.

I am looking forward to another merger myself. Lose more spots on the board, over crowding all our yards with more junk equipment.... 3 hours to find your rear box buried behind 3 others.
Grid lock at the hubs..

well, okay... im just hoping for another buyout offer :p

No,
He meant to say that they need more consistent steady dock help. The issue is that many other centers are short on drivers. By hiring more FT dock, this will allow drivers to driver and less drivers working the dock.

Maybe f-ing damages will go down , I'm so sick of getting reamed out every day by the a-hole customers because of the dock workers.
We really need to come down on the dock workers that are killing our stuff 3X's and you are out of here , maybe the rest will get it.

Wow, what a concept, drivers driving trucks and dock workers loading trailers.
Who would of thought.....oh yeah, Viking did that.

Yeah that sounds good; unless of course you are out of Chicago summit and you run to Chicago heights every night! Hey wait a minute I think you might be on to something, you turn cgt out of cgx and work about 3 hours a night, a bunch of part time linehaul drivers that wont have to be covered under Obama care

Smokestack, it's not just the dock workers, I see a lot of drivers with the 'I DON'T CARE" attitude. Another problem is the company is trying to stuff these trailers to full capacity, it's insane. There are a lot of times you'll be dispatched with your front box weighing between 21,000 to 25,000 lbs and the rear box is 5,000 lbs or less. The lack of decking is a huge problem as well and I hear they want to get rid of the boards and just use beams. I always said though when dock workers get hired they need to do a road week and a city week to see and feel how a good trailer and a poor trailer are loaded and go to a customer and get chewed out for freight damages.

This is a good point..frickin tired of calling the center 3 to 5 times a day to get a exception number....call in around 1330 and your number will be in the low 20s by this time. Its embarrassing as all get out....we are supposed to be doing it better than everybody else.
