Tough to believe they are going to shut us down if they are starting to give us raises. Just talked with my boy in Chicago and they got a 1.60 a hour more. Why throw money if you didn't have good intentions.

Were they given dates of when it will be on their checks, and has it showed on the check yet? Keylon lied once about raises happening in sept to keep us here for CT. He will lie again to keep everyone from leaving now. After monday i know of drivers who never once said they are quiti g who have several apps out now.

Also. I want to know what is top out pay. This buck and change can be taken as easily as it was said to have come.

Rule number one in Vitran: DO NOT TRUST VITRAN.

Rule Two: when in doubt, check Rule # 1.

When I spoke to a CT driver the other day. He told me CT was handing out raises and they were hiring 25 dockworkers, because tbey were going to be getting more freight. Probably our freight.

I want to keep this thread at the top. I am aggressively seeking employment with reputable truck lines, however, as I have said many times, I have no desire to start another job for the sake of leaving. Matty, Keylon, my TM- no one gives two craps if I stay or if I go. I am a number that moves freight. This V/CT deal working out well means more to my reality than it does Matty's or Keylon's.

Nothing would make me happier to SEE, not hear, real progress in the company and my pay/benefits. Hopefully my last day of full time truck driving takes place at Vitran, Central Transport, or whatever they name it.

At the same time though I have to, for my sake, keep it real.

they will take care of their own first, very few if any from vitran will work for CT

Dead wrong "undead". Their intentions are to keep every dime on our trucks they possibly can. They don't want to lose one account, period. They are doing many positive things behind the scenes that indicate they are going to play with the big boys.

I heard someone say ( who quoted what they heard) the champagne will break out when we cross the billion dollar revenue line before 2015 is over. I like the positive and hopeful outlook, much better than Keylon's BS line of "chasing greatness".

Hang in there luci, as I said earlier if you have a clean record and your manager can show you are a stud, you will have a job and I believe they will be fair to us in pay etc.

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.

Luci you are doing what I would advise everyone do...have a plan B
Luci dont overlook private carriers that service retailers, grocery stores or gas stations some of those pay quite well. I have an offer from a private fleet that services a large retail chain, it's not an easy decision to make.
Changes are coming Mr. Moroun is used to making money so I doubt he will tolerate quarterly losses of $15 million for very long.

Let's hear from those Vitran drivers who got raises. Even if only Chicago and Atlanta were the only ones to get raises surely we have some of those posting on here.

That is a great point. I find myself looking at large good paying solid companies, but we should all look at smaller companies too.

Actually, I would take a less pay to work some place that has heart and soul.

Well, I have more research to do. :)

Yes, and I bet you heard that from a line haul driver that has got way too much time on his hands. And way to much time to think about things to stir up:stirthepot:Only the man who isn't rowing has time to rock the boat.

no, i just don't believe so. our senior drivers make a little more that theirs, our o.t. is at 45 and theirs is at 55. we have bcbs med, den and eye. they have b.s. guardian with no eye. i think we will be brought down to their inferior stuff. guess only time will tell. hate to be negative but i knew this company would'nt last, i knew the raises were b.s. and i told everyone to take vac by mid year because this thing would unravel. i'm preparing to lose around $100+ a week is my guess, providing i'm here. i'm sending apps out now because i HAD ENOUGH.

I think its all right in front of our eyes.
Reasons,
Questions,
Answers,
Results,
Lies, etc. I'm leaving Vitran asap. Interviews Monday and Tuesday. Do not be lazy minded the way Vitran has turned the drivers into flunkies, zombies. If you are looking for a job that has less stress. Anywheres better than Vitran... Plainly put. Leave ASAP. Mark my words. I've wanted out since 6 months their, its going on 3 years. Sucks never getting raises and never getting overtime. Really sucks lately having to deliver 2 drivers worth of freight same with pickups... But that's my opinion.

yep, do you job correctly and they keeping loading you up with more stops and ride your arse. slackers get easy runs or light days and just coast without getting punished.

Im out of Bensenville/Chicago and we did in fact get raises. We had a meeting on Friday morning to go over what we were getting and it goes into effect this week. All they did was raise starting hourly pay to $20/hr. No mileage increase so us linehaul drivers got the shaft. Not really a raise in my eyes. They only did it to attract new drivers, our manager said pretty much that. He said they are working on a pay package, but it sounded like the pay package the old management was working on and never came out with. We are still in a pay freeze I was told though and not to expect another raise anytime soon.
