Well, things are getting interesting, we are picking up a ton of business because of the closing of the former Northstar warehouse. I honestly don't know how we are going to hire the drivers needed, and hire quality guys that can do the job and be retained, I really think the first step in retaining quality delivery guys will be to re-structure the pay system, these guys just aren't making on DIP, what we all made on ABC, guys are still getting done early and its doing them no good.

I think its high time we put Sysco back on top, right now we are middle of the pack in pay, our loads suck, listen up Corporate if you want top people, you have to pay top wages, only then will the bosses desk be filled with apps, then you get to pick and choose the best of the best, instead of hiring another body. Around here, anyone that applies and has a good record gets a shot, the other Foodservice guys used to be a stepping stone to get to Sysco, that is no longer the truth, greed took that out, Corporate greed, just like lowering selector and loader pay.

You want top quality people, you have to pay for it, treat your people with respect. Anyone ever hear the saying? "A happy employee is a productive employee"? Its true.

Come on now, quit lookin and start posting ideas, register here so you can post, it only takes a minute...lets talk about this, that is if your not afraid to talk to a rank and file union member that might just have some ideas that are better than your own. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.

Its not just the pay to me, the way we're treated and the little things also boost morale:
Used to be every year we'd have a cookout for families in conjunction with the road-eo. Gone.
Every year on a Saturday a couple of weeks before Christmas you could bring your kids up for breakfast. They could see Santa then "shop" for presents for their families. Gone.
Donuts at a mandatory meeting? Forget it.
On Halloween kids could come during the afternoon and Trick-orTreat through the building. They'd really get into it up front with the decorations. Now with all the "accessory" type jobs consolidated into one place in Texas I don't even know how many people are left up there to pass the candy out or if our new Pres. here will even allow the distraction.

The bean counters consider it a waste because they can't quantify the returns, but it sends the message that your employees aren't worth it.
We have drivers who've been here for 10, 12 years talking about quitting because of changes they've made in the last couple of years. That's a problem. I agree, if they want to be the best they need to attract the best with pay and benefits then keep the best by treating them right.

Yeah GT as I said in an earlier post I work for merchant foodservice in Mississippi out a shuttle yard, its 4 of us guys and 2 Sysco driver in the same
yard and there out of the Memphis tn plant and we hear the same complaints everyday about Sysco changing the pay and upping the work load. I must say I
have been in foodservice 7 yrs and use to always want to work for Sysco but with the complaints I hear daily not just from the drivers that's in our same yard
just from Sysco drivers in general out on the route, I think I will pass..merchants is not the best company but in foodservice far as hours we work in a week and pay its ok...As you said in the post Sysco always been where most foodservice guys wanted to be but not to much now, i have a friend that works for Sysco been
there for a year and he's not happy he actually wants to go back to pfg..yes he will take a pay cut but the frustration he deals with is just not worth it.
One of the Sysco drivers had Thursday 838 cases and 24 stops on the 28 footer, you talking about motivation dead.

Yea congrats we work at sysco the new saying on the trucks should read home of low pay and pissed off workers. Our pay changes next sunday but we are told no pay change. We are supposed to make a little more.

I think more corporate companies will start to screw there employees over. It's cutting into the big wigs bonuses you know? Its really sad that these big shots that make millions only think about how they can get another million in a bonus but never think about the blue collar workers that made the company money. One reason why I like working for a smaller company. I will say this when I worked at GFs I never felt that way.

Also those damn cameras. I think those are still stupid. My dad was telling me that Estes tested them out and it came back as it was to much invasion of privacy.

I gotta tell ya Bro, I work for the same big company you did, just at a different house, but we got a new prez and this guy ain't foolin, he walks the dock at night, he looks at loads, gets the route number and calls the driver to ask how his load is, he visits customers, he is really hands on! I'm just a shuttle driver and I have shook the mans hand 3 times in 5 months, I only saw our last prez once in 2.5 years and never touched him, Sysco Ok has good things ahead because of this guy, we are gonna grow into a big house!

I'm really excited, there are gonna be alot of new opportunities for everyone, and its due to this one guy, he is passionate and serious about growth and customer satisfaction, and even employee satisfaction!

I'm jealous. I think the biggest complaint here is that we fill out the paperwork, save the stickers, turn in the forms, etc. but nothing changes.

I know...I think we struck gold here, things won't get better overnight but they are on the right track.

Your new president might be a good guy but corporations will continue to try and screw over there employees.
I'm glad its going better.

hi guys... this is something i tell everyone to me that complains about our house... Sysco Corp is at the point where they cant make any more profit off the product... so now they are trying to save money with cutting jobs and then with this new dip pay. which sucks. remember we are on the stock market. so if sysco doesnt make their numbers the stocks hurt. then the big guys in tx may loose their jobs so they keep coming up with more ways to cut back on us. and think about this when you cut all the fat and then cut the meat that you dont like whats left to cut? once they cut to much it will hurt them more than help.

with this DIP pay i was told that corp only gives the formula to each house and each house decides on what values to put into each place. Ex: case, Miles, Stop etc. so they cant blame it on Corp its each the houses fault. and just you wait in the future sysco will say hey were cutting you from $.25/case to $.15/case because its a corp account and we dont make much on them. this will save them a boat load. ive seen this at a couple houses. so beware thats the next step of saving $$$. after that i dont know how they will cut even more.

They cut our dock stops to .10 a case, even if I went to a dock and had to sort and build a pallet or had to sort and select 10 cases out of a full pallet at a hospital that was short the day before and built into my load, I still only got .10 per case, because its built into the stop and impossible for them to change it on a case by case!!

just wait im sure theres more to come. it just sucks that you get paid alot less per case and still doing the same work. i could kind of understand if it was a pallet stop and it was all unitized. but they are counting corp accounts that get two wheeled or you have to build a pallet for as dock drop.... did you happen to ask hey if im loosing money for the dock drops are the pickers loaders and everyone else that touched the product for the dock drops loosing money to... because then that wouldnt be fair for the drivers...

They just cut our selectors and loaders pay! Well, their incentive pay, they still get contract hourly pay. I'm on shuttle and I work by the hour, plus a nice bump per contract for pulling 2 or 3 trailers, I'm quite happy, our guys that bust their backs are not!!

Are you guys picking up IHOPs and Krystal's? What is really wrong with the Atlanta yard. I hear so much bad then I see a couple drivers on a rt and he's cool with the job. I've applied for sysco and GFS. Just waiting to hear back from someone now.

We have be told IHOP maybe in feb. About atl I do not know just depends on your opco. Our vp went to bat for us and dip really did not hurt us I am making more. It is a good job as long as u can do the job and take the stress.
