Yellow | How Is Your Local Handling The "Vote" On OK To Re-Open The Contract?

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Nov. 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Last Tuesday YRC Worldwide (Nasdaq:YRCW) management met with officials of local unions affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). Since then, there has been an ongoing dialogue between the Company and the IBT. Today, we understand that local unions have indicated support for the Teamsters National Freight Industry Negotiating Committee (TNFINC) to begin discussions about the company's financial future. The company is looking to extend the current contract for 5 years from ratification and achieve cost savings for YRC Freight, Holland, Reddaway and New Penn. The current contract is set to expire on March 31, 2015.

I think this press release says it all..........

I wonder which locals in the Central region area have indicated support for TNFINC to begin discussions on this issue?

I was told buy a high ranking 710 official the NMFA would not be reopened but the only thing that would be discussed will be the MOU. This was supposedly discussed by tyson johnson yesterday during a conference call with all the locals.

BA told me same thing a little while ago. Company wants substantial concessions, IBT says no way. So guess we'll see!

Yes I also forgot to say that all the conferences said the MOU would have to have. improvements and no more concessions.

There was a conference call on Tuesday with all freight locals and the IBT. The consensus was that the IBT could bargain an extension, but it could not contain ANY concessionary language.......

I was told that 710 did have a vote today but it was for what to have for lunch . :bananag:
Now that's funny right there, I don't care who you are, that's funny. Damn funny. Sad but true funny.

So, was this vote an electoral college vote, or a popular vote thing?

The MOU does not need a vote! Hoffa and johnson have a set of rules that states that if they deem YRCW to be in need of help then they could authorize it. When YRCW asked for more time to repay the pension fund monies, did they ask, NO! Remember the union BA saying,Welch is here to help? He ain't. So let us drop the BR from Brothers, and say "don't look out for OTHERS"!

So, it was a bait and switch?
Here, vote on if we should renegotiate a new contract, then, turn around and negate those votes by doing an MOU?????

Yes, sorta!, combine those two words and you get what hoffa is gonna do to you!. ***** slap comes to mind, under int'l rules you'll do as he tells you.

We had an impromptu meeting at PHI 152 on 11/7/13. The BA showed up and brought us up to speed of what is going on. We have a Local meeting on Sun 11/17/2013 so I guess it may be discussed?

It boggles my mind that there's not a single unified way of handling this thing. I mean it's a big freaking deal (to more eloquently quote Biden). Doesn't seem right that each local can handle the decision to negotiate in their own way, and here some are saying that the negotiation committee can come in and do this thing without approval from the locals. BIG MESS!
