Central Transport | Chaos in Dallas

I passed by the vitran barn in memphis on weekend. And before ct came over there ,when all the vitran trucks used to line up on the fence and all the trailers would be in the yard it used to be a tight fit. Now that all the ct equipment is there now,(if not all the ct equipment is there ,it looked like it) you can barely see the concrete. Thry have the tractors on both fences THREE DEEP LOL. dont worry this ill soon be a "mini" yrc. When i say that i mean you will soon lose a crap load of business and lay off a crap load of drivers becuz of how customers are way too familar with how well both companies take care of their customers freight. Before this beautiful marriage both outfits couldnt pick up and deliver all freight daily. And we all know how bad both companies dockworkers tear up freight. I havent seen "now hiring for ct" signs in the ground anymore. But once this place screws its employees more n more each day, and once they trim the fat, and more n more leave in the spring for real ltl gigs. Those signs will be back in the same spots ( in front of every other LTLs barn) and i have no idea why they would put them there. I mean do you really think a guy at conway, fred, ups etc would look at that sign and say " man i think im guna go and work for matty!!!!! I heard he takes care of his drivers" lol lol lol

I understand and respect your years and wisdom, but man RT, youve changed your tune real quick.
There comes a time in a man's life when he has to stand up for injustice....I am not a cry baby.....I am not a whiner....If something is unfair you can only spin it so much....What is going on here is unfair to the employees....I'm so sick of hearing that CT saved us and we are lucky to have a job....We are an expendable asset and it's time we understand that. We were purchased to make more money for this man and that is the bottom line. A successful person is not a person who makes lots of money. A successful person brings success to everything that he or she does, and money is one of the payoffs.....We are doomed to make choices. This is life's greatest paradox...I'm choosing to move in a different direction. Because I don't like the person I find myself becoming working for this company.

i have never been so happy! its a great feeling to just walk away. its just a job. and all jobs have bs involed you just have to decide what bs you are going to put up with.
you as a driver is not going to save this company. its the management that is leting all of you down. show up hit your 8 then hit the gate. because all you can do is your best with what you are given.

they don't want to lay you off or fired you because you'll get unemployment, they rather have you quit so you don't get it. i heard there's some changes in unemployment in 2014 and they might be waiting for that.

Got a couple of pm's from my guys in Dallas.....CT Dallas is forcing P&D guys to work the dock because they don't have P&D work....They appear to be trying to force guys to quit...Why don't they just go ahead and start laying off and stop playing games?....My boys won't be screwed out of their unemployment....We are so underestimated.

Is it really that slow down in Dallas, RT? Perhaps, they do not have the dockworkers to load/unload.

Great point Southside....Before you left to go to UPS freight we had some good times on the board....All the old gang that has moved on are so much happier in their new gigs...I hear from many of them via PM's and I always smile....I will send Hartman your love here in Dallas...LOL

We brought over too many drivers for the freight we had...60 P&D drivers is way too many and they are trying to run some off by forcing them on the dock....They are trying to figure out who are the most productive but that is not really possible because many that don't want to be here are simply laying down. What they need to do is hold a meeting and ask who wants to leave and promise them they won't fight their unemployment....That would solve the problem with being over staffed.

I'm tuning up my violin...gonna play until this ship sinks.

The lies have finally got to me, I've been positive up until lately.. I think most of my energy now is focused on what's best for me and worst for V/Central.. I ain't a bought to try and help these jokers out.. No way.

Burn it down!

They would have to put it in writing and signed by Mathew to ensure that they would not fight it. Anything else is all a lie.

They won't get rid of only the older drivers. That would be asking for a class action lawsuit.

I don't know where you get your ideas. Maybe you're a city driver. Maturity is an asset for line haul.

These companies are not afraid of the class action lawsuit. I saw the old guys get fired with my own eyes where my dad worked for 30 years. The folks that got fired were people I grew up around-people who gave me a ride to school and took me fishing. This is not second hand info from my dad.

The way it was done, and is still being done, is by handing out write ups for things like clocking in one minute late or driving 10 miles an hour in the yard when the sign states five miles an hour. The last write up for one man who work there for 27 years was not putting his seat belt on while driving in the yard. These were relay (linehaul) drivers.

We were told all CT drivers load their own trucks. That's why every Vitran driver needed to be forklift certified to prepare for the merger. CT is flooded with freight---terminals are overflowing---so they called the Vitran dock workers to help. My point is it seems there is plenty of freight but breaking it down and loading it into trucks is what's causing there not to be enough P&D work. P&D drivers being on the dock is to help dig out of the mountain of freight. And you're not being treated differently since all drivers were expected to work the dock at CT prior to this merger.

I got a recording of the meeting with stamper when he told all the drivers that they hired more dockworkers so that drivers are not working the dock, stripping their trailers.

The gloves will come off this upcoming week depending on how it plays out.....I have defended CT most of the time but after being disrespected and spoke to in a condescending manner this past week I've had enough....This guy has the nerve to throw stones at us after the way he runs his terminal....OK......Two can play that game...I once used this as my signature......" Anything that keeps you from growing is never worth defending." I have become stagnated but I will leave emotion behind...I will speak only the truth and facts that I have been gathering from day one.

When all this started I had to do nothing but look at the facts to determine this was going to be a nightmare. Is it too early to say "I told you so"? I may be new to this board because I'm not much into gossip... but I'm not a rookie to the ltl scene in Detroit. Vitran drivers-get.out.quick.

Can't understand it. I'm being forced over tomorrow night(Mon) after helping out 3 nights last week only to bring back an empty. We still have 4 line drivers at our place yet and CT is running an add on CareerBuilder for linehaul drivers. We're not all over yet, still can't manage the freight load and they need to hire more linehaul?? It would seem they must have a few graduates of the CK School of Freight Management.

No it is not....At least about it being a nightmare....You were right.

RT, sounds like you guys are dealing with with a bad TM. Go above his head, talk to the regional liaison.

Follow the chain of command. All terminals are having teething issues, but there is no reason to take frustration out on the drivers.
