Yellow | why would you vote yes

Vote Yes....Lose your job under 7(h) Service Area.

I hope P&D drivers will stop and think about what areas could be deemed low density, and the effect that might have on their job.

If anyone is that down and incompetent, then your only choice is yes.
Sorry, but I feel better than that. I'll roll the dice and if they shut the doors, guess we'll all get that equal sacrifice.

I believe you have that right. The union says there were no negotiations but I think everyone knows that the company didn't come to this without some arm twisting. Is there enough wiggle room if this gets turned down for the company and the union to meet to discuss some very valid concerns with language and content of the current proposal, maybe there is or isn't, roll the dice and hope you made the right choice, but make sure you can accept the results of your actions. Can there be a lot of changes to the substance of the current proposal, highly unlikely, the company is in a tough spot, regardless of whether it's their actions that got them there, and the banks control our destiny.

I'm curious, just what EXACTLY is YOUR plan B? In the plausible event that we reject this proposal and YRCW does file bankruptcy. How does that strengthen the Teamsters?
I'm quite confident I can be hired and work at ABF or FEDEX Freight.

How does voting this in strengthen the Teamsters? It don't, it just shows the company that you are willing to give up everything, till there is nothing left.. ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP ON YOUR PENSION AND HEALTH BENEFITS, SO UPPER MANAGEMENT CAN BENEFIT FROM BONUS AND OTHER COMPENSATION AT THE EXPENSE OF EVERY UNION WORKER!!!

READY TO GIVE AWAY YOUR PENSION... JUST VOTE YES

So basically you're saying that instead of making your own decision to leave for a better job for yourself you'd rather see this job shut down and have everyone, including those who want to continue working there, out of a job. Interesting.

You're not getting an argument from me on this, everyone has a vote, use it wisely. As for equal sacrifice, Welch and Pierson will move on to their next Million dollar job with outrageous benefits and golden parachute, and we will find another 18 - 23 dollar an hour job with or without a pension starting out at the bottom with all the bull **** that comes with that. Now that's what I call equal sacrifice. BRING IT ON:fan::duh::6799::wee:

I don't understand the new absenteeism language. Does this mean we now have 5 paid sick days that we are not allowed to use or do we have to plan and give management a few days notice when we will have the flu and unable to work. I can tell you right now that this 'density' language on the subcontracting is dangerous. They will have the ability to 'trim' these peddle runs right up. We now routinely drive 35 minutes one way to pick up 2 pallets and then turn right around and drive back the same road 35 minutes and resume the run. Over an hour per shipment creates nice ot (if you want it....) but definitely no money in it for YRC.

I'm riding this puppy into the ground where it will end up We will all start from the bottom where ever we may end up, so why not take advantage of the vacations ect.. now
I've been ready for a chnge for awhile now, so I'm voting NO

Yes, it's called standing up for yourself and others.
I can figure people out real quick.

Also remember with the change of operations that many of those low density areas have already been closed and the employees shifted to larger terminals.

It means you have the same amount of sick, personal, floating and vacation days you always had, you will only get in trouble and start the progression when you are still taking days off after using all them up. The density language is more vague then the absenteeism language I can see quite a few terminals falling under that one because there is not number associated with it what's low density to a terminal less then 100 bills a day, 200, the lowest 25% in the company?

Yes that language on small EOLs is potentially very dangerous.

Any terminal regardless of size could lose low density areas.

How much business does subcontracting bring to YRC? I would be willing to bet it's virtually none. This is something that’s never mentioned when management sings the praises of interlining peddle runs.

This is my 3rd major career in my life and although, looking back, I may have done a few things differently, however, @ age 62 I just want to get to 66 and retire with whatever pittance is left. I will have to vote yes due to my own circumstances. I wish anyone well that is looking for a new career choice and understand that we all have to vote what is best for us as individuals.

Nothing wrong with looking out for your own best interest, nobody else is going to do it.

First of all I would like to congratulate you for 3 major career changes, that alone is tough... I just like to put my input in on your thoughts of retirement. Do you plan on having a retirement from the Teamsters? If this is passed, what do you you think will happen to the pension funds with YRCW only paying in at 25% for UP TO 10 YEARS? The pension funds will probably be cutting the YRCW pensions to almost nothing. Hopefully you will be able to live on just your social security... I know this is a YRC teamster concession, but I guarantee you that this will NOT stop with just YRCW companies... This will spread to every union company, and to the non union companies alike...in the word of flexibility, and to remain competitive in the trucking business their employees will be taking cuts... What do you think YRCW will do when this happens? They will be back again with yet another concession, saying they need more just to be competitive, and that the banks needs another agreement or YRCW will shut their doors... The IBT and the locals will just go along with it again knowing that they will not be affected by any cuts made... JUST A THOUGHT BEFORE YOU VOTE YES TO GIVE UP YOUR PENSION

We all forget what our previous teamsters did for us by fighting and striking to get the companies to pay a decent pay and benefits. As I read some of the comments on here about people willing to roll over and take what is given to them because it's better than nothing is disgusting. Pure selfishness. As a Union Member we all knew there would be a day like this in the making where we would have to possibly strike or have a job action but most of us spent our money foolishly instead of having a rainy day fund to ride things out when they got tough. If not for us we should be doing it for future teamsters because voting yes to me is the coward's way out and probably the final nail in the Teamsters. Why have a Union if they bring nothing to the table. It seems that Unions today are becoming less influential and this drama shows you why. The Unions only concern is losing 26,000 monthly dues. YRC cannot and will not close their doors. Their threats are pure BS. YRC is like GM, too big to fail. For those of you who can't find a job look in the mirror and you will figure out why? Fear is what is holding you back. Grow a set and man up. Destiny is in the making and what you do will have repercussions for many years to come. Time to make a difference. What amount will ever be enough for YRC? Do you feel guilty when you cash your check every week because you make too much?? Go ahead and watch what happens when the company starts using Contractors. Ask the folks at UPS Freight how that worked out for them. Their contract is held up because of that one issue. I should know, I worked there over 5 years and saw high paying Road Runs disappear and Road drivers being forced back into the city because it was cheaper for them to use a contractor on your run instead of you. We need to vote NO and then sit down and negotiate. This has been a one way street for too long.

While I understand how distressing this pension issue is for all of us (I'm only going to get 1/2 to 2/3 after 30+ years), I'm still not sure how a YRC return to full contributions will solve the problem. Central States is already going bankrupt - even if YRC were to pay in 200% it wouldn't change that. The damage was done by irresponsible management of the fund and by the previous MOU. I'm pretty sure that voting no won't change a thing in the pension fund because you know full well that if IBT goes back to negotiate they won't be able to raise the contribution rate back to previous levels. At best they'll get the H&W contributions back because they're cheaper.
