FedEx Freight | Fog lights.

For about $320 you can get a flamethrower, er, flashlight that send quite a message.
Works pretty good bounced off the mirror to send that message to the rear also.
Not legal , but effective.
 
You got a point, most of these super duper truckers adjust them to be an extra set of lights, it is what it is, I come on the boards and complain to get it off my chest but it ain't gonna change until law enforcement steps in, the custom jobs are becoming more common place like 4 more lights between the headlights, in addition to the fog lights and headlights, then like I posted before, the ultra bright LED bar, that thing sucks.

Its just not right to blind me so you can see better, headlights alone have been good enough for many years. I have been known to crowd a driver to get him by me, if he hits me in retaliation, thats cool too, I never leave my lane and I have a camera that will prove him at fault, plus the entire time we sit still I keep getting paid, so whatever floats yer boat.

Agree, accept the crowding a driver to get them to pass quicker, not very smart if you ask me. I hate that too but I find it much safer to just slow down a bit for a few seconds. I hope you are not talking about the lane departure camera saving your butt.

The only units I'm aware of that have fog lights were from Watkins- never had a use for them. Usually misaligned.
 
So sorry I'm late.

Fedex has done alot of dumb things I will agree, however one of the dumbest was putting fog lights on trucks, the drivers of said trucks will flip the switch and blaze them just like the rookie long haulers, I thought you guys were better than that but I was wrong. I'm not talking to all of you, just to the ones that burn those annoying things on a nice clear night.

Have not kept up of late w/ the chatter,and am sorry to interupt, but what is a fog light ? :hysterical:

I have the DriveCam, trust me I would never depart my lane, not ever, but I have found it effective, I drive a 59 mph truck max speed, going up hills loaded its more like a 49 mph truck, if I go any slower I'll be going backwards. 99% of the time I'm up against the right of way, the reason for that is because I don't trust these concrete cowboys to do the right thing, I'm more comfortable around folks that pull 2 at a time, just my opinion but they seem to me to be far more professional.
 
Fog lamps (amber/yellow) or driving lights are a great help in foggy or rainy weather at night time providing they are adjusted properly. Problem is that drivers use them when they are not needed and do not take the time to adjust them properly.
 
It's the 1,500,001 mile that makes you a professional. I think bats are already blind, I guess we should rely 100% on the vorad, like bats it relies on radar- so... in fog, hammer down. I find that curbs, other cars and pedestrians help adjust them fine! :D

In some cases, we have:

1) Driving lights.

2) Head lights/daytime lights.

3) Fog lights (1970).

Now 4) Glazed plastic lenses.

If in doubt on which and when to use- just like placarding, use the DANGEROUS placard. Turn off your C.B., put on your high beams, and DO NOT make eye contact with the drivers you are passing- whatever floats your boat.

The only lights I was aware of being called "fog lights" were amber in color, or made amber by placing a cover over them- usually an auxillary light - put on by a driver circa 1970, creating jobs having to replace them for installing them wrong, and being knocked off by snow drifts and curbs. Anything below the headlights were usually called 1) "driving lights"and used during the day- we now have daytime lights which cannot be turned off, which replace the so-called driving lights below. If used at night/fog are obvious because they are dimmer, unless you drive a unit with glazed over headlights which is another story...

For $20.00 and a drill, you can fix that.
So if they aren't amber they aren't fog lights?
 
Wow, and all this time RC thought that the difference between fog lights and driving lights was the pattern of the light beam generated by the light and determined by the lens and reflector configuration.
RC never would have thought to point out to the Per Lux light company that my trusty old Per-Lux fog lamps were anything but, due to the fact they didn't have amber lenses.

Dang, missed a chance to stir the pot.....
 
I always thought that driving lights were the headlights (primary lights) so if fog lights aren't fog lights and are driving lights, what do we call the main lights? Lets just light up the front of the truck with 10 lights, as long as the driver of the 10 lights can see who gives a flip, I guess until someone does a header into them because they are blind. Rookies run fog lights, they are obnoxious when out of adjustment and most are, its a me, me world of trucking these days gentlemen. Guess we best get used to it, its only going to get worse, the newest drivers coming up are the ones that mommy and daddy wouldn't spank and gave em everything their heart desired, its gonna get ugly.
