I didn't mean to insult anybody in my post . I just wanted to raise some eye brows and get some reaction . I to question where all this money goes I understand they spent over 8 million on scales for worn out broken down tow motors and the scales won't work in the cold. Why wasn't this money used to pay down the debt or better yet that would buy a whole lot of tractors? How about some new trailers also so drivers won't be throwing out their backs lifting these broken down trailer doors Hey Mr Welch if your really so concerned about your former YRC how about showing us and say I'll work also for just the profit sharing (lord knows he doesn't need the money).
Stock holders agreed to give upper management huge bonus if the see continued improvement passing this contract will guarantee them that. Ask Scott why we have to work harder at Holland for our share of profit sharing then yrc when we make all the money to support this pos company?
 
The company that put the scale on screwed up and the wrong part on, they are fixing it at there cost. If all the driver would do a pretrip and get things fixed right away or put the trailer out of service. Either switch trailers right away or when you get back from your run.
 
It is amazing how many guys we have that will leave the yard in faulty equipment. I have seen drivers take red tags off equipment because the person says there is nothing wrong with it. How do you think management views these people and the one who tagged it. I mean the one who tagged it is viewed as someone who would just red tag without real reason and then on the other hand they know they can get the other man to drive anything. Then if the man who untags it gets hurt or has a breakdown "he should have caught it on the pretrip"
 
Several times I got ready to pull down my door and found out that the door didn't work right. So I was faced with a decision. Do I try to fight it all day and not waste the time changing the load over to another trailer, and just write it up at the end of the day? Or do I do the safe thing and waste the time switching the truck and trailer? I always tried to do what was best for the company (within reason) until the management changed their attitude and started trying to fire us for every little thing. There were several times where I, more than likely, could have made my deliveries with the door not working just right, even though there would be some risk of hurting my back. So when you feel like the company is trying to fire you, you are forced to not take those risks any longer. This the "teamwork" that is destroying this company. I faced it every day.

Two sides pulling in opposite directions (drivers vs. Mgt) has never been successful, and never will be successful.

Then they cry about the Workers Comp claims.. I have gone through two shoulder surgeries and now fighting with Gallaghar Bassett.. To this day I believe the doors had a big role in it.. Almost every day I had the vendor mechanic oiling the doors before I left but by the end of the day they were generally screwed up again.. Lift gates were the other problem... They cry that workers comp is killing them but don't do very much to prevent it other than showing us some dopey video's.. Plus the fact that they have an aging workforce..
 
Several times I left with one our junk lift-gates to make deliveries and ended up unloading the freight by hand anyway. The junk would work in the yard during a pre-trip, then wouldn't work out in the street. So I'd try to do the right thing for the company and unload it by hand, risking injury. And the entire time while unloading, I'd be asking myself "why am I taking the risk, when they'll hang me out to dry if I get hurt doing it". So at some point you have to just say oh well, I'll bring it back instead.......since the company is looking for reasons to fire people, why give them their opportunity to whack me.
End result......poor service.

Scale man put a new part on my scale and it worked fine until CORP found out it was a new part. He promptly got the call and removed the part in lieu of a used one.

Welch is making $1.5 million a year and has a nice golden parachute on the way out.
