I was offered and have accepted a position with Estes. This was a very difficult decision but in the end it comes down to what is best for my family and what is best in the long-term. Regular raises and steady work is definately what i had to shoot for. I still have a couple weeks left so I am not going to disclose my terminal at this time for fear of ill treatment due to my departure. To all the guy and gals that i worked with at Vitran I wish you the very best of luck. Hopefully I'll see ya'll out there on the road.

Welcome aboard. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
Many of us here at Big E are refugees from fallen and forgotten outfits. We plant our feet on new ground and start over.

this is becoming way to common and popular of a post, different words but the same sentiment. I hope Rob's secretary is printing some of these out so he can see the feelings going on.

This ^^^^ is an important post. Pay careful attention to who is jumping ship and who is staying. Sure, Central will lure a few good people with enough money (for a while- I'm hearing some are already figuring out that it's not worth it), but literally DECADES of LTL experience are headed for the door. Look at the quality and experience that is going already. This should speak volumes, people. If it doesn't, maybe you are in the right place.

Let me be clear on one thing about myself. I don't think I'm better than anyone that chooses to stay here.....I just want more than this place has to offer. That's why I have chosen to leave...I wish everyone one the best and I will remain objective as the moderator as long as Jeff lets me do it...It's his call...I'm still very dialed in with my friends...Actually I think it will help me be a better moderator but again that's not my call....I want more...that's a personal choice...it's as simple as that...Me and JK are cut from the same cloth....We just don't want you young guys to look back in 20 years and second guess your decision to stay.

^^^^ :-) ^^^^^ Well said.

And now let me be clear... (Because I am into telling the truth and pulling no punches.)

Some LTL drivers ARE better than other LTL drivers. (In the same way you would admit some supervisors and terminal managers are better than others.) Like it or not- IT'S. A. FACT. (How do I know? Because I don't bury my head in the sand. I don't lie. I don't sugar coat. And, I'm good at math.)
I am a better LTL driver than a few others. That said- I work with a CRAP - LOAD of better LTL drivers than me. It's the TRUTH. Sure, every outfit has it's "slackers" or slower-paced drivers, but I feel honored to have worked with some really outstanding drivers at Vitran. Most really made me proud to be part of the carrier. At this juncture, the question starts becoming "If I feel I'm a good LTL driver and Vitran was a good 'fit' for me, do I still feel that same 'fit' with Central. If the answer is "no", one has to question why.
Train, I believe you were honest with yourself and answered that question truthfully. I think it's going to put you in the place you need to be. (I sincerely hope you continue on as our moderator. For my vote, it's a good 'fit'.) My prayer is that EVERY great driver I know will ask himself or herself that same question and then be honest about it. Is Central really the BEST you can do for yourself and your family? So many of my friends are SOOOOOOO much better than this place.
ALSO, I have met some really GREAT Central drivers. It is my humble opinion that you guys could do better as well. (I've already witnessed Central drivers leaving and I've been approached by others who have told me they are on their way out, so I know they are not completely oblivious to their situation.)

There. Truth. No sugar coating.

.We just don't want you young guys to look back in 20 years and second guess your decision to stay.

That is one of the most important things that, we, as older drivers should attempt to get across to the younger employees still here, Train. Each individual has to look inside themselve's for the answer that only they can find. You,me,fudgie,Pops,18wheeler--we can't make the decision for each one. There is no correct, one-size-fits-all here. When you look your wife and kids in the eye, you have to know and hope that you made the right choice.

And sometimes my brother it comes down to just one thing...having enough courage to take that..."Leap of Faith."

As the essence of courage is to stake one's life on a possibility, so the essence of faith is to believe that the possibility exists>>>>>>>>>>>>>The hero is no braver than the ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer.. Ralph Waldo Emerson

LOL... If I'm ever a hero, it'll be because I was too stupid to run five minutes sooner... ;-)

I think Had Enough is right, but I cannot figure out why CT wants to operate that way. It just makes no sense to run off good employees and good accounts, but Central Transport is doing it.

Good employees and good customers have to be treated with respect and common decency that does not seem to be in CT's business model anyone they can't bully they don't want around

But, CT does not want good customers, only the ones that do not give a rats pattutti what condition or when their freight arrives.
