Did anyone look over the information which we have the right to vote on ? I am particularly interested in item # 2 ( requesting a vote FOR item # 2 , which is to approve Con-way Inc. amended and restated 2006 equity and incentive plan ) . I had a driver tell me that this is a vote to approve reinstating our 401K match . Anyone know ?????

No, it has nothing to do with our 401k. It's a vote to increase the long term compensation(stock options, etc.) for the directors of the company.
I will not be voting and I will continue to complain whenever I feel the need, thank you for sharing.

That's fine. They don't scare or intimidate me. They put their skirts on the same way I put on my pants! That's a big problem with the workers of this once great company. To many people afraid of voicing their opinions. Just keep turning a blind eye to the problems and nothing will ever get fixed.
The company will do what the company will do and there is NOTHING any one of us can do about it. We are not organized and we are not union. We are a company of individuals and therefore, we have to take what we are given and give what they want to take. Hold on or jump off, those seem to be our 2 choices.

Well, with that attitude it is no wonder this country let alone this company is in the shape it is in. Remember, a NON vote is a yes vote for what they want. Yes, maybe we don't have the majority but with everyone not voting, it only makes them stronger with that many more yes votes. Why do you shower? You are just going to get dirty again. Why wash your car? It is only going to get dirty again. Why vote? My vote doesn't make a difference. You know that if you just want to stick your head in the sand and maybe everything will be alright when you pull it out, that might work too. I know if you don't vote, you don't have to blame yourself for making a wrong vote or taking credit for a good vote. I know, just be Switzerland and all will be great.

Everything we do in life makes a difference somewhere or somehow. Even apathy and complacency will influence others to steamroll their own self serving agenda over the uninitiated. Some however approach with a can do attitude and effect actual changes. Every vote counts and makes a difference weather that vote was for the winning team or not.
Please explain to me how voting will change anything that affects me??? Institutional Investors Own This Company. If every single one of us voted, it would not change 1 single solitary thing. The big share holders decide who will be on the BOD. PERIOD. Every vote DOES NOT COUNT.
If I vote, will I get paid more? NO
If I vote, will I get my 401k match back and what the company said it would contribute to make up for lost pension? NO
If I vote, will my health care costs go down? NO
If I vote, will I get my stolen vacation days back? NO
It is pointless,futile,a complete waste of time and it won't make me feel any better about anything so why bother. It is what it is so like I said before, hold on or jump off, those are OUR two choices as drivers.

Would be interesting to find out that half of all of the major stock holders out there voted no and the other half vote yes and that pass/fail is determined by one vote.

What if nobody voted no and all that voted thought it was a good idea to pay exorbitant salaries and bonuses to our leaders? Upon examination of the vote tally, it could then be surmised that next year, they should ask for 10 times that amount because, well, because they can. Nobody will object, so why not? This same line of reasoning applies to the systematic reduction of our own compensation package. Drivers don't complain so why not take more? Mark my word; More reductions are coming, no matter the economy. Our downward trend began long before the convenient and opportune bubble burst. Why? because few of us say anything. Now, lets return to voting for our leaders compensation.
Vote your displeasure and even though your vote may not result in a technical win, it will be counted. They may think twice when coming to the well next time because there was a quantitative contingent out there that objects to obscene corporate pay. Our leaders may have to be happy with a few less million$.
Or, cast a vote of confidence and tell the board that our leaders deserve more and bigger rewards. Either way, vote.
