Has anyone seen these yet or loaded them? Reports from the train world are the reporting marks are showing in Memphis and Chicago and they are being shuttled on CN trains Q-194 and Q-195 daily. So wondering if they are using chassis pool chassis or is FedEx following Schneider and JB Hunt and buying their own chassis?

Some reporting marks identified are:
FDXU531009
FDXU531022
FDXU531023

If you listen to the latest version of the Mile Marker(FEDEX propoganda CD) they talked about the purchase of new FEDEX containers. They are to be built like the inside of out pups so we can use the decking system and stuff more freight in them. We are going to "Rent" chassis fron the Rail Road and not buy our own. The funny thing about this is, they say "We" need to do good pretrips on the chassis because FEDEX will be held responsible for the cost of repairs when the chassis are returned. This should be a good one since so many don't do Pretrips on our own equipment any more.Secondly, Central Line will be responsible to ensure the chassis are returned to the proper Rail yard from which they were picked-up from or I guess we will be charged for the transportation cost to return them to the proper place of orgin!! So the big question I have is---CLC can't dispatch freight in a logical manor so how the hell are they going to keep track of more equipment?--this should be another cluster like everything else they try to do in Hoterville!!

Ok - thanks for the info. I'm not with FXF anymore, but am still a shareholder and a vested and interested person. Dad runs line haul out of AKR and I still keep in touch with a lot of Custom Critical people but don't have many insiders with Freight anymore.

Unless they changed their policies, there are different "pool" locations to return the chassis to. When I used to pull overseas containers we were responsible for any repairs to the chassis. If you get a flat tire you pay to fix it. If it's a blow out then the chassis owner is responsible. The rail would get pissed at you for pointing out every defect no matter how minor, but had no problem marking everything up when you were returning them.

Can you send me that pic, I don't have a trainorders account.

Thanks,

Roogie,

I don't have an account either - the only image I can see is that little thumbnail. I was hoping someone in Chicago or Memphis could snap some pics. It looks to be white or cream containers with the same MultiModal logo as the trailers. Thought maybe you were holding out on us since you always have pics of the new stuff!

I have seen at least 4 in cgt over the last 3 or 4 weeks. At night they look a little darker gray then in the picture above. I believe the same color as the vans they used for the rails now. I'll take a picture thur. or fri. if any are there.

We can only hope they "purchase" their own.

APLU were wonderful to work with, sliding "anything" was such as joy in blazing summer and bone chilling winter. I hope they have tires, at least four, and a utility box of lights at our disposal, don't forget the oil for the axles that rock and rolled form Mexico/Laredo and are now dried out, seals gone and bearings shot.. Will we be certified to fix the lights ourselves? What color badge clip will we need? Do we really need four locking pins to hold down the container? Carry alot of rubber straps to secure them, and hope you can find a pin in the yard. Oh, one more- if the containers are stackable before you leave the yard, look at the "roof mirror" when leaving the rail yard to check to make sure they removed the adaptors that lock the stacked containers together- they add about 4" to the height and weigh about five pounds...The cars behind you love dodging them when they fall off.

Not to mention more free advertising. Will they be blazing a billboard sized name plate or a simple 6" font ? The press needs to know- so as to get the best shot of them down/off the road.

yes, we had meetings at the affected terminals in November 2013. All Old Rail vans will become FXF city trailers in 2014, and ALL existing rail traffic will run (Double-Stack) in 2014. (Does anyone remember ROADWAY)? Watch for HUGE GROWTH at the Dual-Purpose hubs in 2014 and HUGE JOB LOSSES at hubs that FEED those terminals in 2014. I with 17 years Road Seniority will be (Re-Allocated) to a MEGA-HUB in 2014

What company are we renting the chassis from?

Are we getting any instruction on securing the can to the chassis?
Can't wait to see one that has fallen off on the five o'clock news.
