Since the unfortunate accident involving death at SCH/034 the workers have expressed a greater concern for safety and conditions in our yards. If you have an issue that is being neglected, overlooked or just unknown to management and needs to be addressed this would be the place to put it. Any suggestions and ideas on what you do to stay safe would be great to hear as well.

Nothing can replace our need to stay alert while we are on the job. There can be a lot going on around us at times and our bodies are no match for the equipment around us. So be safe, stay alert and stay alive.

Yellow paint to clearly establish traffic flow, walkways and drop lines. Additionally, more lighting for the hostlers particularly where they do most of their work.

004 has gone through minor re-configurations the last couple years. You can find the HXWP lanes but the yellow walkways do not exist.

One simple thing reflective strips on the company uniforms would help you be seen in the dark. Other LTL companies already have them.

I don't know what happened @ SCH, but I have been concerned about yard safety for some time now, while walking at night with the yard goats operating, especially @ PTL 145. I always carry my flashlight turned on and pointing behind me as I walk. I can flash the hostlers if they appear to not see me. They are usually driving with the interior lite on looking @ their browsers, and if it is raining, it's even harder to see ahead. I have had a couple of close calls. We really should wear reflective safety vests under these conditions. I've started carrying one of these as well. I use it when out of the truck chaining, or for breakdowns. Maybe that will be the end result of this tragedy. Safety must be everyone's priority.

I recently saw a man walking at night (not at work) who had a baseball cap on with two LED lights on it. It was dark and I couldn't see exactly how it was set up but those lights were easy enough to see and I'm sure they would help hooking in a dark yard.

There are hats available with the LED built in.

Yard workers are using hand held devices for their job and are driving hostling buggies and tractors while looking at these devices!!!! Phones they are!!! It is illegal to do this on the road in a commercial vehicle but ok to do so on our yards? First and foremost, eliminate this practice!!!!

Too many safety issues at 003 to list. TM is Greedy and a cheap ass.
What do you think is the worst one? One dock plate in need of maintenance can be the end of a guy's working career.

Being a road driver I see no placards no locks no seals. No previous write up. People racing thru the fuel barn. City drivers racing in the yard.

As you know I'm at 034 we have been complaining about the lighting in the yard since the terminal was built back in Carolina days now this tragic accident happens and still nothing done we can't see the lines in the lot our horses only do 15 mph our forklifts only do 10 so those are ok the dock in the winter is usually packed with snow because they won't fix curtains we have asked numerous times but the money isn't their I wish they would address these safety concerns before more people get hurt.now they have our money so we will see what they will or willnot fix

Just days after the accident at 034, there is not a light that is not lit in our lot at KC.. Very Bright and never an unlit spot now...Never until Mr Millers unfortunate accident. He was a great man and missed in KC.. I looked forward to saying hello to him each week..

I don't understand why they have to wait until a worker gets hurt, piece of equipment lets them sit or a driver finally has enough and refuses to drive a truck before they'll fix it.
