Yellow | YRC Worldwide Reviewing Options After Unsuccessful MOU Vote!

Wow! Do you have dragon or do you really type all that out? OMG!

:) I really typed all that - the really SICK part of it - the editing for 'content' and the fact that it feels like I'm talking to myself.... Good thing I like to "hear" myself talk!! :regretful:

OK - sooooo.... Your absolutely right!! I'm NOT management! THANK YOU... :)

I also know - and you will probably believe this - I have millions of my own opinions about how things should be done... - hard to believe I have opinions right? Well - I do. Here is one thing I've learned... the company isn't "we" and "them" - it's "US" - it's like a marriage "we" have to work together - and "we" have to listen to one another. NOW... that being said - I worked with uppers and peers on a computer program for a company - I 'tested' it ... that was my job. I threw out suggestion after suggestion to the uppers about what needed to be done.. and I felt day after day that my suggestions were falling on deaf ears - then one day - I popped off at the senior manager of operations about ' Do you even hear me?' and in that moment - I got a whole new perspective. See from my side - I was giving DAMN good advise.. and NOTHING was being done... I would get e-mails back every now and again that said... "I've added that suggestion to my pile"... and that was it. So when I popped off... I learned something - I learned that R&D (research and development) on my ideas took 6 - 8 MONTHS... AFTER funding was found... then it took another few weeks to test and then we would 'see' my ideas 'come to life'. OK - so what I learned.... about a year after I started, there was an update and several of my suggestions came to fruition!! I didn't understand the process that had to be taken for my ideas to 'come to life' and all along I thought my ideas were falling on deaf ears. Nuf about me. .....

Am I saying that the first person to hear you will listen to you? NO - Am I saying you should keep trying? YES... not every manager you approach is going to listen or even hear you. But the beauty of the 'system' - every manager has a manager!! :) You start where you should, give that person a FAIR chance to hear you (don't get mad.. make a suggestion and then wait) ... inquire about your suggestion... then if no response, no real discussion.. move on to the next person.. sooner or later someone will hear you! I guarantee it.

I have a DM who said "Let me know if you think anything is off - But, I know you will, you always do." Because I'm the squeaky wheel (can you believe it? MEEEE the one they can't get to shut up?) LMFAO!!!

Perhaps the first suggestion to the GOM should be - get me somewhere that I can share my ideas... give me someplace to let YOU know what is going on out here!! It's a thin line though between - informative and 'bitchy'.... check the emotion at the door and realize just because it seems a good idea to you... doesn't mean it hasn't already been tried. :) It may have seemed like a good idea to several people and ended up being a dud for some reason.

Don't always assume the answer you get is BS. You really want someone to listen to you? Have the facts... do the research.. ask questions... understand WHY it's being done the way it is now.... THEN make a suggestion.

Someone here said "We have the experience - We are out there doing the job - YOU ARE!! I agree... now use that experience to shape the company into what you want it to be.
I'm just saying...

And because I'm really slow on the uptake when it comes to sarcasm... if you were being sarcastic.. I'm bummed... I just spent a lot of time caring about what you thought. :)
And there comes a point in time when enough is enough,, the Teamsters werent the ones who ut this company in this situation,, that would suits and ties,, but they didnt waste any time coming to us wth threats of shutting this thins down if we didnt donate to a terrible cause. So on top of doing my job day in and day out at a very big reduced rate, and to contiually watch these half mgrs try to do a job an do it wrong, then not take help from a 20+ year man, who happens to own 25% of this pos?? See thats just not how it should work,, especially when you know they dont know their azz from a whole in the ground,, and maybe a good TM would be open to suggestions,, but how many times do you think you want to hear "I will look into it"?? I was never so glad to leave YRC,, now if only Holland can find a way to get away from SATAN,,, life would be good

Actually the nails were first driven into the couffin of Teamster companies with the 1980 deregulation act signed by Jimmy Carter. In the free market a higher cost union carrier cannot survive amongst a growing number of non unionized carriers who don't have to abide by the same works rules as their non-unionized competitors. It works in small parcel becaue there really are only 3 players. UPS. Fed Ex, and the US Postal service. Somehow I often view Teamsters in full sprints back to their trucks at UPS. I never saw that at Roadway. All I saw was mostly people working purposely slow. It's a slow death at YRC and I'm sure you'll muddle through it for a while but you are about out of tricks. I say this a former employee of Roadway and an occasional user of YRC's services because the prices are so low. But I am real carefull of the lane I utilize YRC for.

Just some truth serum. don't take it the wrong way.

OK - There comes a point in time each day of my life where I say WTF... why do I do this OVER and OVER and OVER... You can apply that to anything.. can't you? If you don't want to try - far be it from me to ask you to. I used to think there was NOTHING I could do to effect change and what was the point.. and then I started typing and typing and typing...(not to you or here) I have seen web-sites change, companies change, processes change. Sometimes I feel it's got nothing at all to do with me.. and sometimes I wonder if my suggestion wasn't the one that caused the change. (Depending of course on the size of the situation)...

Start a conversation - listen - make suggestions - it's not rocket science... HOWEVER... when the suggestions come with the tone you are speaking to me in (thick with contempt) you can't expect a good outcome...

If you start with "Hey dipS**t, I have a suggestion for you" you aren't going to get far. But if you start with "You know, I've been doing some thinking and I was wondering if ..blah blah blah.. would work. You just might.

I don't expect that you are going to 'change the whole company overnight'... but I do think you can be a positive part of change.

Look at me... I type and type and type.... and I got you to talk to me... even if you don't believe what I'm saying... I got you to talk to me :)

Thanks for your conversation.

Just an real life example of part of the problem. I utilized YRC for a shipment. I had to track it and was told by customer serivce it was out for delivery. No ****- I already knew that by tracking it online. Just because a shipment is " out for delivery " doesn't mean it's really going to deliver ( it was 430 in the afternoon) or that some egghead scanned it on the truck but it's really still on the dock. In the old days you could get the actual dispatcher on the phone and they could tell you the real story. It's mind numbing dealing with YRC. It really is. Sorry for the truth serum.

That is distressing... I didn't cause it - but I am sorry you went thru that. There most definitely are feedback channels available to you... :)

Many employees had already returned their ballots prior to December 23, the date the company announced it had a refinancing agreement in place. We believe that was information employees needed to make a fully informed decision,"

Vote until you get it right? Just my guess?

Hehe, Told Ya!
