It's my understanding that we will not loose a weeks vacation untill next year because the contract wasn't ratified untill Nov 3rd which was out of the vacation period which is between May 1st and October 30th. The vacation we have this year was earned last year before the contract was ratified so you can't loose it. Has anyone else heard this? I have by B.A. Making some phone calls to be sure.

I hope your right, let us know. I will ask around today....

Just got off the phone with the ba, he said it reverts back to April so no we still lose a week....

you lost it.... We were givin a sheet that said what we used to get and what we get now in KC... It at least cleared up any confusion....

Amen Brother!!!! I beat my head against the door window each day I climb into that truck and ask the same thing.... We are all Brothers and Sisters, But for leadership to have done this and road and city alike to have passed it, My fellow Road Drivers who are gone 6 nights a week voted to give away a weeks vacation.. City guys work a lot of overtime, spend Saturdays recovering to maybe have 1 quality day off.. Oh and by the way,, thanks for 7%.... AND Look at how good we are doing now,, And we are going to strengthen our other ABC assets... Wow thanks IBT,, hope you remember that come next negotiation and take a hands off approach like you just did at YRC...

I haven't yet heard back from mine. But I stopped through another terminal that's in another local and they said their B.A. Came to the terminal and confirmed what I said earlier. I ran this by my T.M.this morning and he didn't disagree either way. I said I would research it more before we start the vacation bidding.

Was that sheet printed before ratification assuming that it would be passed in April and not being dragged out till Nov. 3 which is after the vacation period?

We just had this in our mailboxes a couple weeks ago.. at KC,, so a big terminal also we were made very aware during the process,, both sides of the issue..

any increases are in April, everything is retroactive to April as far as the new language or terms or is affected on April 1 2013,, sick days went into effect Jan 1... so on april 1 2014 whatever that increase is, 2% or whatever we will get it... I am so mad at losing 7% I don't know what it is and don't believe for a second we will ever get to end of this without a beg back,, just like YRC!!!

Also,, I don't know how or why vacation is an issue,,, Once you have worked 60% of a year, you are entitled to a vacation... As long as 10% of the seniority list is not on vacation it is yours.. I guess it is 60% of 2 years for a newer guy with a week,, but I see vacation signups and guys think they have to sign up when its posted.. B.S.!!!! I mean in small barns!!! Not just large ones where I know seniority matters on vacations..

To say July on pay increases or any other aspect of this contract is wrong and irresponsible!! Not true... Always retro to April 1

Contract reads as follows:
General Wage Adjustments

a. Effective payroll period following ratification:
-7% on all hourly and mileage rates.

b. Effective July 1, 2014 +2% on all hourly and mileage rates.

c. Effective July 1, 2015 +2% on all hourly and mileage rates.

d. Effective July 1, 2016 +2% on all hourly and mileage rates.

e. Effective July 1, 2017 +2.5% on all hourly and mileage rates.

Accordingly, raises come July 1, 2014.

Vacation Reduction

(a) The vacation eligibility schedule in effect from the previous labor agreement shall be reduced by one week.

(b) Employees will not lose vacation for vacation anniversary years that began accruing prior to April 1, 2013. Vacation accrual for vacaion anniversary years beginning on or after April 1, 2013, will be reduced by one week.

That tells me that if your anniversary date falls before April 1, 2013 you don't lose a week until next year. Otherwise you're out one.

Thanks ABFer. I still hope you are wrong and we use april as the base. I heard some variations for the vacations that I am just going to summit mine as usual and see what happens. If I don't get paid, so be it, because I still need the mental time off !!

This is taken right out of my IBT/ABF National Agreement.

Your are right on the raise schedule. As far as the vacation goes we shouldn't be loosing a week untill 2015 because when the contract was ratified. The loss of one weeks vacation was predicated on the contract being ratified in April. If that had happened then you wouldn't have earned that one weeks vacation because with the contract signed, it would already be gone. Talk with my B.A. Last night and he got this right from the industrial relations rep. In our area.

Sounds good to me, either way we should be good on it.
