Yellow | Do You Want More Concessions?....And Why?

You are right, when you say, they just want it voted in.....and, it will be no matter what the proposal is this time!

Please understand, that ,I believe ,most ,of our officials are honest men and women.
Having said that there are those who look only to their own political and financial well being, and, they are the ones sending in the tally to the National.
The National itself must also consider the possibility of loosing $15 Million per year, if ,YRC goes under.
I could not agree with you more.

This vote at the locals is pretty transparently a UPS tactic that worked. They know that there will be much less of a turnout for this vote than last and since they lost by so much, that in itself helps their chances of ramming it home. Please guys, make a point of getting to the hall and voting if this is truly the way it goes down.

WHAT?....If a Teamster Freighthauler don't know how to get off work by now....then he AIN'T NO TEAMSTER FREIGHTHAULER!.....KK
I think that you have just identified what a part of the problem is. Does the Teamster freight hauler have as his career objective "hauling freight" or figuring out how to avoid doing his job????? Just remember please, YOU said it!

You just told me why I lost -15% pay, a weeks vacation, 75% of pension. If you want to make less, quit and go elsewhere.

WHAT?....If a Teamster Freighthauler don't know how to get off work by now....then he AIN'T NO TEAMSTER FREIGHTHAULER!.....KK What about team drivers, What about X board drivers being left out. What about the the drivers stuck out due to lanes being closed because of bad weather,HOW ABOUT STOP TAKING AWAY MY RIGHT TO VOTE!!!

OK…Just MY personal opinion on where this is all going:

We were told on 1/16/14 via YRCW press release that they were meeting with the iBT that day.

The IBT press release said they had been in talks since LAST Thursday, the day the vote was NOT ratified….hmmmm?

(YRCW Update, January 16, 2014 | Teamsters)

I would expect they will sit down and trim and tweak some of the MOU that we just turned down.

They know we are pissed about the non-CDL employees NOT getting a raise for 5 years, so that will probably be removed on the “new proposal” to vote on.

They know we are pissed about our vacation checks being cut for $100 -$150 per week and that will probably be gone too.

They know we are pissed about the absenteeism policy, as it is too vague and that will probably be removed too, while I don’t understand why it needed to be in there, as the NMFA already deals with that subject.

NOW…they would have eliminated several top issues for certain groups of employees, which might move some to vote yes.

Now that leaves the purchased transportation issue. I would look to see that somewhat changed, and that might calm some of the road drivers down too.

They would have to hold a 2-man Committee meeting to go over any new proposals and ask the Locals to approve to take it to the members for ratification. While I don’t see them heading to a meeting during MLK week, I would think it would be easier to do so over a conference call meeting to save the Locals some money.

Then I would look to see this go to the locals for a meeting over 2 days and then we would vote at the Locals which will **** even more members off, BUT…you will need to make the effort to get down to your local Union halls and vote!

Now, would any of these changes cause you to vote yes, or no?

Keep in mind, this will be extending years of more pay cuts and our pensions will still be at 25% of premium.

BUT…there still is an 800 pound gorilla in the room that we must notice….If they keep operating the same way with our money as they have for the last 4 years, another 4 years is not going to make any difference either, and we will never get back what we have given up.

Lets wait and see what comes out of all these meeting this week.

NO MORE CONCESSIONS.....KK
That "certain groups of employees" crap is a problem the IBT and locals should take care of IMO.
We should all be able to do all the jobs IMO. No special groups solves a lot of problems. We divide ourselves that way. And the company can use it for manipulation.

Road drivers have a week to get it together in most cases....many will mark off on ETO....many will mark off on even tours by Friday.....many will take a personal day off.....many have a Saturday or Sunday off....many have a Saturday or Sunday start time that may allow them to go by the Local before work....many will be coming in from their trip on Saturday or Sunday and can go by the Local on the way home....MANY have a way to vote if they really want to.....OH, MANY got a ballot in the mail and would not even walk to their mail box to even mail it back....just say'in.....KK

I would mark off union business no matter how many days I had to hold, to vote. Ever since the merger work rules almost non existent. even holding for a turn guarantees you nothing, like they do it on purpose. Of course if you need the $ that bad it wont work for some men. maybe they can proxy a vote thru a steward?

Everyone complains about the right to vote but then is unwilling to shoulder the costs of voting. I guess we're beginning to understand how underrepresented groups in the US feel when Presidential elections come around...

Would you support political parties taking sealed ballot boxes to individuals at their homes or places of work to make it easier? No, many of you wouldn't.

If they are not voting my way they shouldn't vote at all!
Now where have I heard that before?.....lol

I'm marking off these truckingboards fatigued.... sorry that will be 24hrs rest relaxation . Bottoms UP !!!:couch:

Most cases is not all cases.

Why concessions? If bankruptcy is the only option then that is the morally right and sane thing to do. Unions should avoid being involved in closing places. Yes the banks and company is at fault. But the option is there to keep the doors open and the morally right thing to do is keep as many jobs as ya can even if ya lose some jobs. Even if ya take some hits. Even if ya don't get stuff back. Ya don't close places when given the option to stay in business. Too many have lost homes and jobs and don't make as much as us. It is a total act of spoiledness and greed and ingratitude to throw a job away which pays over$20/ hr and has good cheap health insurance. It is not a heroic act. It is not helpful to the union cause....and most will find out that it ain't eveen gonna be helpful to their own cause.........if ya believe in supply and demand ya can't believe that taking out 22000 teamsters out of freight will improve standards. It won't ,ABF is small and they will be surrounded and greatly outnumbered by the nons. Closing this place worsens things longterm.
Short term we lose All seniority and go back to crappier wages. Going from $21 to $16 at UPSF is a hefty loss for years.
An Allentown union official told me the best thing for all would be to vote yes and take time to look for work if ya don't like the deal. Then we don't all go out there looking for jobs that there ain't gonna be enough for us...If there ain't jobs that are better than this it is brain dead to close it with option to remain open. Its not normal contract negotiations. Its an offer to remain in business or not.as far as I was told. The option ain't to strike bit to close the doors. And the world won't see ya as great union heroes. They'll see ya as lazy greedy in grateful union guys throwing away a twenty dollar plus per our job...
....there is no good in a no vote.
God gave ya a decent job. Ya don't throw it away just because ya can. Let the sin on the hands of those who put us here. Don't make us worse with stubbornness.

I doubt you would have the same view if you were one of those who lost their job so the company could move forward, would you? If you have a clean cdl you will have no problem finding a good job, think outside the box....freight sucks....
