Forgive me if this has been answered before. Can Holland be sold off? I'm going on my 3rd year here as a city driver, and I must say its the best driving job I've had in my 15 year career. Hate to lose it due to some schmucks spending spree at yrc.

Dude I'll give you fair assessment to your question. Management says NO, IBT says no, Central States says no, but as we older guys around here know that money speaks volumes to our parent company. Nobody ever thought UPS would ever be allowed to withdraw from CS but look what cash did for them. The possibilities are slim as 486 stated so eloquently. ( Dude 486 like myself have been around a long time and have seen the best side of Holland), but enjoy your job and make that money while you can. Griz

Not sure if you're trying to be an ass or not, but I've been in the LTL for 10 years driving for 15. Spent time at Vitran, Conway, and laid off from UPS Freight and yes Holland is the best job I've had in this field, even with the concessions that were given up MORE THAN 3 YEARS AGO (I know when the first round of give backs were given). The other companies didn't care for me to much cause I'm quite mouthy, will stand my ground, and not a kiss ass!! What I mean by the best job is my manager just can't walk up and berate me, can't pick and choose who runs what route due to how much ass has been kissed for we have bids!! We have good insurance, we have structure in our work force. I haven't been here as long as most of the guys, but I have earned the respect of my senior brothers at my barn. So before you try to be little my 3 years as if I'm not included bin this fight remember my vote counts as well and I'm here to help hold the picket signs, not S*C*A*B myself out and cross the lines!!!! Oh and I was one of the "uninformed" that sent my NO vote in before the 23rd!!! No falling for the bs thrown out when I've read financial reports, saw bonus given to the top 4 officers of the company before any interest payments were made!!

Griz thanks for some What answering my question.

You have a good head on your shoulders dude unlike several of our new hires that only rely on what someone has told them whether be right or wrong. Also welcome to the boards.

Every week I see how much i pay this company to work here on the bottom of my check. I understand what I should be making, and understand what my fellow union brothers gave up via pay, vacation, pension. If the pension was never touched about 20 drivers would have already been retired and my spot on the seniority board would be that much better!! So Don't question the worth of my opinion, for mine smells like ass just as yours!!!

Put that question to the VP of Human Resoures at one of our meetings, of course he said no. Then I asked him how come on the quarterly financial reports, that one column has YRC Worldwide and the other column has YRC Regional. He did not have an answer to that. And in this last MOU a profit sharing plan with the OR different between worldwide and regional. They can sell us off, no matter what the company and Team486 says.

Everyone says "NO" you can't be sold, but the pure truth is, if there is a will, there is a way. Money talks, BS walks.

yes , if the right people want it sold , but Holland ,New Penn , Reddway ., are the cash cows ,so yrc wants to hold on to them !!!

There is a " slim" possibility Holland could be sold off. YRC sold off Saia back around '97 I think didn't they ? Holland has a good reputation out on the streets. The " brand" could be worth some money maybe ? Just fairy tales and dreams , I know. Just saying - not 100% impossible.

Can Holland or YRC regional group be sold? I spoke briefly to the owner of the company I work for. A north east competitor. Yes it can be sold. Reality is there are to many debt issues, pension etc to make a purchase of the company or group not really worth while. From a pure biz standpoint, wait for a closing and pick up the pieces at a bargain. He felt for the workers getting screwed by mis management.

Just my opinion. Might want to apply now to other places. Before the market gets flooded with drivers. Hope it does not happen.
