existing MOU LOA is set to expire at the end of this month AND with WTPF not participating or accepting contributions on my behalf starting June, is YRC extending LOA to its people currently on LOA like myself please help

I am hearing that I might be receiving my recall letter this week. I have been on layoff since March 09 and have not used any LOA clause. Here lies the problem. I have been told that if you want to use a LOA, you must take it for a minimum of 30 days. Since there is not 30 days left before YRCW is supposed to pay into the funds again, forcing everyone back or to resign, I am not eligible to take it.
Now, I am forced to chose to return or not before the May 31st end of LOA agreement. This puts me in a bad situation, because if I choose to return and give up my current employment, I run the risk of other senior guys coming back from a LOA on June 1st just to push me out the door and then have no employment at all.
Anyone know if this 30 day policy is correct? Seems we all should be allowed to use the LOA clause for the same amount of time. If I would of known that this so called policy was in effect, I damn well would of signed up for a LOA.

The end of this month all LOA's are finished, so if the senior guys are coming back they'll be back, most terminals are busy and need help, but before you come back count the number of trucks currently at your terminal and the number of guys coming back, that'll give you a pretty good idea if you'll be working or not.

Personally if I had another job and liked it, I would stay there.

You had the same chance all on LOA had, but optioned to not use it. At least you had it. There wasn't a LOA when I had to choose. I chose to quit, and it ended up being the Smart, and Correct Decision. If you are satisfied with your current job, resign, stay there; if not, come back, take your (not good) chances....

Good Luck with your future, no matter what.

If you got another job and are paying the bills and living good why come back ?
Their is nothing here but a paycheck and good health care for your family. And this could disappear at any time!

Can you take a voluntary layoff....I am going in
Monday to see if it is possible.....otherwise I will resign. Making pension contribuitions where I am now, pay is close but the pension is what I need most, now. Very tough decision........

Drops you to the bottom of your board until everyone has been recalled.
But, you still have the opportunity to work during layoff, if called and, therefore, not resign.
Talk to your steward. Good Luck, tough decision.

I begged for the inverse layoff prior to the merger. TM tried too.....no way was the answer.

The word is that at our terminal, they recalled a bunch of guys (including me, but I took the LOA), some of whom quit their jobs at other companies, only to have 35 laid off again this week. Same old games; I think I'm staying at my new job.
