Holland | Wil we CLOSE UP Monday?

Its just a job Griz....plenty of them out there....I'm actually excited about the potential opportunities out there. Better pay...full pension....work for yourself if you like. Guys at my place left to pull containers....their taking home $2,000-$2,500 week....best money they ever made in their life. There are plenty of better options than what we are being asked to take. Have faith brother!

If there are so many better opportunities what the heck are you doing at Holland bitc*ing about pension, pay blah blah blah. Go do it! For a lot of people it may be their only game.

Griz;13328The problem I have with your train of thought is what is keeping you here? I personally like my situation at Holland. I agree it's now just a job said:
You make some very good points Griz.....I've been at Holland over 20 years also. This was once a great company to work for....you actually had to know somebody to get in here at one point. Now they have hiring fairs here in Joliet all weekend and get 4 maybe 5 people to show up. Why do I stay?? That's an easy one to answer....You and I along with a majority of our co-workers have been here alot longer than the clowns at the top that have totally jacked this company up. How many presidents, ceo's and cfo's have we been through in the last 8 years. All of whom got a nice golden parachute for their "hard work". I think I have earned the right to stay and fight for what I believe is right.....as do you and every employee here. If this passes....which I'm pretty sure it will....I will be looking for another job in the spring. Do I want to give up seniority, vacation, etc.??NO! But I want a decent retirement more so I will go. Take care and good luck to us all.

I get it Fr8man...there's a lot of guys that will vote yes for many different reasons....need the insurance, too many tickets on their record, location, too old, big house payment, car payments etc...Not bragging at all but none of those apply to me....I'm a cheapskate that doesn't do payments on anything and I drive like an old lady(no tickets or accidents in 20 years). I also live in a big metro area where theres plenty of driving jobs....it's easier for me to vote no. That being said...most of my barn is voting NO and they do have a lot of the things mentioned above to worry about. I'm sure its much harder for them to vote NO but they will for mostly the same reasons as myself. Later

I've always made sure that I wasn't trapped at a company that I worked for, by staying out of debt and keeping myself qualified to move to a different job. Financial responsibility would have kept a lot of my co-workers from cowering down to the concessions, but instead, they chose to "keep up with the Jones". Most people won't admit that they can't afford to skip a paycheck, but more times than not, the yes votes come from financial desperation. To each their own, but I never lived my life so that I would be forced to cower to every threat that was thrown at me.

Good luck with your decisions.

WOW what a 360.
Dude what's up with that?
A little math education is needed for you,..A 360 is a complete circle,so you will end up at the same starting point,..If you want to compare a persons complete change in turn around terms ..You would say ..WOW what a 180..Dude what's up with that...I would suspend you from the rafters on my pulleys and swing you up to 90 degrees..

If there are a lot of driving jobs there that pay equal or better to the one that you have now why are you not there? I would be. You guys are pathetic. Look out for yourself and nobody else. We are all brothers here and need to understand the importance of the vote. This company is in trouble and if you don't get that you will Monday.

Look out for yourself and nobody else.
Just curious. But isn't a person who votes yes for concessions just as guilty of being selfish as a person who votes no. The Yes votes are usually "selfish" because they are only concerned about themselves and the fact that they live paycheck to paycheck, and can not risk missing a paycheck. And the no votes are selfish because they aren't worried about those who can's survive missing a paycheck......because they don't live paycheck to paycheck.

Let's face it..........everyone votes for selfish reasons.

It's gonna be 17 Below here by Chicago Monday./Tuesday......I hope they close it down for the day!! We were one of the only ones running a couple weeks ago in the extreme cold......and what a mistake that was!
You guys, YRC and FedEx Freight and UPS were all I saw when it seemed everybody else was closed.

What makes you think all yes voters live paycheck to paycheck.have you seen my current financial situation ? I could be a yes man with a paid for house,3,4 hundred grand in a IRA,paying on my second house with the money I collect from a no voting renter that lives in it.. The selfish people are those that post things they think they know without any supporting documents to their bizzare claims.. Or as i like to call them.clowns & trolls

Go back and re-read my post before you make yourself look foolish. You will find this key word......"USUALLY" in my post, and words have meaning. There are always exceptions.

The word "usually" that you used, was referring to the yes voters--as in (usually they are selfish) because of the" fact" they live paycheck to paycheck.....you go back and reread your post..The word "fact" as you used it in this context ..means ALL yes voters live paycheck to paycheck..Or so you think..I am available to correct your grammar 24/7..Sometimes retar&*s get confused easy...I will help you understand that what you wrote wasn't really what you meant..Are you one of those clowns that think a 360 is an about face and complete turn around from how you thought about a subject before & after..

You're such a tough guy when holding a keyboard. Get picked on alot in the real world do ya?

I'm here because I have owned several trucks over the years and worked at nonunion and union places and have been doing this over 40 years and trust me as bad as it seems it is still better for NOW than anywhere else!!! I'm gonna stay the course and deal with it the best I can! I've got 20 years tied up in this place and I'm gonna ride it for what it's worth!! Just saying!!!! I respect all of your opinions and understand all of your reasons for feeling the way you do. I've been in this same position several times now over the years and believe me, no matter how much of a tough guy you are when it's over and they close it's a hard pill to swallow when you have a family depending on you!! I hope the best for all of you, and have a lot of respect for the most of you!!!
