And this is why I don't go near those "Lease, Train, Drive morons....

Again it's sad that another driver has lost his life trying to earn a living "R.I.P DRIVER"! Regardless of the company the driver works for, it only takes a milli second for something to happen and for the driver to react. It's true that a majority of companies that have drivers with limited experience are involved in a vast amount of incidents, we should remember we were not the drivers we are today when we just started out. BTW... those of us driving these plastic trucks should remember what the picture of the Cascadia looks like!

I don't see how being a lease driver has anything to do with this accident.

He could have easily sideswiped the truck on the shoulder because of something so simple and common as being preoccupied with changing radio stations...focusing on a "smart" phone....texting......each of which befalls many "experienced" drivers as well......Just because a person is driving for a Company that uses inexperienced drivers does not mean that they are ALL incompetent...

The article did not mention any information as to the drivers experience level or any known facts of the cause of the crash......It's all speculation at this point....including my comment as well....

My point is that it does not take years and years of experience to make a driver "safe"......Sometimes the "experience" works against some drivers as they mistakenly believe that all that "experience" makes them safe.......it's called complacency...

There are MORE MORONS not in "L.T.O." trucks than in them, as some drive for the u.s.p.s., so beware.

He forgot, tsk, tsk, tsk.

Thank You pilot 87.
Complacency, for instance, being a u.s.p.s.driver and "presenting as a know-it-all about the whole of Trucking".

USUALLY, Airbrains, a "Lease driver" is a newbie as having been pushed into the L.T.O. trap under the guise of "being your own boss and making handfuls of money" as well the related dogmatic hypocrisies, because it appears you forgot what O.T.R. is dear, except when you're lambasting someone about their O.T.R. experiences, or helping to shut down a hijacked thread.

The TEAM may well have departed the, as usual, overcrowded trashy truck stops of t.a. in Ontario, Cal., and may well have been wanting to get somewhere to park, like a ramp or parking area just north of I-10 on I-15.
Article states "passenger suffered minor injuries" so maybe passenger was wrapped in the bunk netting?

My condolences to the deceased.

in the early 60s I went through a three week course conducted by Consolidated-Freightways safety department on Winter driving and mountain driving. A comment the instructor made was" they didn't worry so much when for 1-2 years after new, never driven a truck, people got out of the school. It was after that when they thought they know it all is when the problems occurred and they started to worry!!!! We all strted somewhere with no experience. I fell in love with trucks driving a KB-7 IH for a farmer pitching hay when I was 15 !!!!
