Estes | Hiring Requirements

Well it has'nt gotten any better in all the years I've been here, just trained a kid with 7 months experience came from Cr England and scared the crap out of me when I let him have the wheel. I think I'm done with training if were gonna be the Swift of the Ltl industry.

I won't train... They send the newbie's with us to run out LH runs at night.. He/She doesn't get under the wheel... He/She observes and learns the way there and back, that's it....

Hey all, Interviewed last weekfor Linehaul, gave them my clean MVR and filled out written application. Called back in Tuesday to fill out the 10 year history they didn't get the first time so now that is sent in. Now I'm in the holding pattern. Curious if Buggy has heard anything yet. Appreciate the info from Mildew and the other regulars with Estes. Oh, I live by the West Middlesex, PA terminal. Thanks guys.

Sounds a lot like Central! Lol. Between the money and HORRIBLE insurance you would not beleive the drivers we have, or maybe you could. Most are really good people but have absolutely no business behind the wheel of a truck. Not to be negative, but after 23 years of accident free driving I should be able to provide for my family a little better than I am now.

Also Ex-Vitran out of Wichita. Here's my thoughts. The insurance is a little bit more than what i had at Vitran. I was a ex Chris Truck Lines driver so of course the money the southwest division made was less than the central division, the wages that i make here is better than what i made there.

your experience at this company will be a lot different than Vitran. Something that i was floored by is the free crap they give out. Safety sends out free gimmies every quarter. I worked for Vitran for 7 years, i think at year number 5 they finally gave us a V hat.

The trucks need a little help and the maintenace leaves A LOT to be desired. The trailers are in better shape than what your use to.

I'm in the city so my view is different than those that are on the line. Extra board is a tough racket no matter where you work so grow some thick skin until you can get yourself a bid run. Good luck.

I worked for Central Transport for 3 whole months before I came to Estes. This place is nothing like Central. I wish I had come over sooner.

uuhh... kinda getting a bad vibe with this terminal. Interviewed and filled out app 2 Thursdays ago. The guy interviewing me said the girl that sends the apps to safety is gone for the day (works first shift and he obviously works 2nd shift) but he told me he knows what they look for and everything looks good and I should hear from this girl Monday to schedule a drug test. Tuesday he calls me at 4:30pm to come back in an fill out a 10 year employment history(there is only 3 spaces on the app her had me fill out). I did and he said of course that they would forward it to safety the next day then I should hear to schedule the drug test. Friday comes and I haven't heard anything so I called him back and he was surprised, didn't know what was going on, and said I could call the girl myself monday morning since the obviously cannot on the same day. So this morning I call her and she says... um let me check... um I never go a reply from safety (from almost a week ago)... I'll try to send it again today and see if they get back to me. I try to call the original guy back tonight to fill him in and he is not in tonight! Sorry if it's kinda confusing, but I am trying not to use names. I think he is like the operations manager and she is maybe office manager.

Long aggravating process is all I know. I'm surprised to hear some has been hired in as little as 3 weeks.
