Yellow | New Absenteeism policy????

Always looking at things that could make me late, and just simply plan ahead. Sometimes I do leave earlier to make sure I am on time. As far as the 3 digit thing, they will have to close all of the Chicago area terminals for that to happen. Go Ridge Sox!
showed what your made of there...meester

The man plans ahead and occasionally leaves earlier to make sure he gets to work on time and you call him a meester?

Sometimes reading these posts I get the feeling I must be living in a parallel universe somewhere.

No Trip, it's not a parallel universe. But it clearly shows how out touch some TB members are. I don't know why. Having integrity and being responsible are, to some, completely unknown qualities.

hope they move you 65 miles from work and have to drive into a busy metro area . lets see if you can make it every time even leaving 2 hours before your start time .then you can realize why

That is normally the "exception" not the "rule". Most people who are chronically late are the same folks who buy a birthday gift the same day as the birthday., after knowing for 365 days that it was coming. If I'm going to be late, I just won't go.(anywhere)

I live by the ridge? Does that count as another universe?

If you haven't had an absentee problem before what possible difference will this make? It is easy enough to qualify under FMLA, CYA if you "want it your way".

The real joke is all the crying and wailing about having to show up for work regularly and dependably just like most all working people do.

What you don't seem to realize it just don't care about is the fact that we have forced, mandatory overtime every day. That means 11-14 hour days every day.
5 sick days and 2 personal days are not enough to deal with things like appointments, family issues, time with kids, household issues, car repairs, any other "lifes issues"and actually getting sick.
Comparing our work schedules with "most all working people" is absurd. All the above mentioned issues are easy to deal with when you work an 8 hour day and actually have a quitting time.

And you knew (or should have known) all that before you went into this line of work correct? Every type of work has its "crap" factor. You alone have to set your own personal priorities.

Spoken like someone that obviously does not have to deal with the issue.

By the way, I've been in this business since 1987 and there were no 60 hour weeks back then. 48-53 was the norm when things were busy and 44-48 when it was slow so you're argument that I should have known holds no water.

The more accurate statement would be "spoken like someone who's been through those conditions for many years before you even started in the industry". Depending on the particular job/run/start time/area you worked, long hours were part of the job as long as I've been around. By the way, by the time you started I was already in this business for over 15 years.
