Yellow | New Absenteeism policy????

What you don't seem to realize it just don't care about is the fact that we have forced, mandatory overtime every day. That means 11-14 hour days every day.
5 sick days and 2 personal days are not enough to deal with things like appointments, family issues, time with kids, household issues, car repairs, any other "lifes issues"and actually getting sick.
Comparing our work schedules with "most all working people" is absurd. All the above mentioned issues are easy to deal with when you work an 8 hour day and actually have a quitting time.

Sorry boss, I cannot come in today. I have an appointment to get my haircut, have to clean house, get the oil changed in my car, take junior to soccer. I will try to be on time tomorrow, but please do not ask to work more than 9 hours.

the one's with the fantasy are the ones who think that these guys who are being abused by a new policy that was slid into new mou want to hear your bs lines of crap .
managment type - yes to anything the company wants and cant stand to hear what the real people who have to live with it think.
their opinions count because it involves them .
yours doesnt .

There was a movie in the 1970's called "Super Fly". I guess you're the modern version, "Super Cry".

what part of no one cares about your managment type opinions didnt you understand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spoken like someone that obviously does not have to deal with the issue.

By the way, I've been in this business since 1987 and there were no 60 hour weeks back then. 48-53 was the norm when things were busy and 44-48 when it was slow so you're argument that I should have known holds no water.

Your seniority should allow you to hold a bid. I wish to point out that I've taken bid start days or times that I hated. But they were what let me meet family commitments. You and you alone decide your life. It's all about priorities.

Seniority is not an issue. When a person works 11-14 every day it does not matter what time you start.

The fact of the matter is that it costs less to work us OT than it does to put another driver on the street, a lot less. Another driver means another truck and trailer plus the guys benefits, which ours are already topped out. And as our wages drop while the cost of fuel and equipment goes up the problem gets worse. There is language regarding excessive OT in the contract(s), which rarely gets to panel for some reason. The best solution to the problem would be double time after ten hours. This problem will prove to be another obstacle to obtaining new hires.

people have to just understand .this is not the great job it was in the 60s70s80s or even 90s .teamsters are just a # to this company and getting worse by the day .
now instead of guys have 4 weeks vacation and 5 sick days most are now going to have 4 weeks plus 5day and 12 weeks of fmla .
its their game .they keep changing the rules and the teamster adapt to their bs .

It is a fact. What once was a pretty good job, is not. The stress endured is not worth the rewards.

Well said. But we still stay, for some God for saken reason.

The only way things will get better is if the economy improves and YRC returns to profitability. Then there will be something to go after in terms of getting a better piece of the pie.

Yes and I think what a nice place Albuquerque would be :hysterical:whenever I'm shoveling snow :crybaby:so I can get IN the driveway!

An old friend of mine, rest his soul, used to have a special thermos in which he saved his drainage.

He drove coast to coast, but would not empty it until he crossed the NM scales.
