Yellow | There's no way!

And the people moving 2.5 bills per hour, hooking mavbe 1 set per hour, making less than 6 switches per hour, and making 1.5 stops per hour, they had no hand in this either?
Not at all. They had a motivated group until they decided to go on a spending spree to ruin 4 truck lines.

Maybe we can buy another company on credit .sell their good equipment and fix a couple of our junks up .that should hold us over .duct tape is fairly cheap
Now that's funny right there.
Because there are things they can do to buy more time...that's good for most involved isn't it?
Not quite how I feel about it. That's why I have a living will.

I never realized the actions of others was an excuse for me to be sorry. These are lessons that should be taught to our future genrations.Come on man!

Kinda of a no-brainier is to LEASE trucks & trailers like alot of the bigger trucking companies do ???? and right now the cost of tow trucks & repair bills are much higher than lease payments & prolly better fuel mileage too ???

Leasing isn't cheap especially with the miles we run, profitable companies can use it for a write off as opposed to deprecation but since we have no profit it's of little benefit..........................

It is when they blow cash and then come to the employee for concessions. If you want to believe them be my guest.

Instead of calling it leasing, call it bonus trucks.they always seem to find $$$ for bonuses

If you have been around either of these companies for the last 20 years, you would know these numbers have been "good enough", all this time for some people.

I guess it's like cancer, would you rather go thru chemo and live a poor quality of life a little longer or just be gone a little earlier. I personally don't see how it's better. At least if they close and you know when you can be prepared a little better.

And if you man up and leave on your own for a better job - since you and you alone call the shots on exactly when you'll leave - you'll be prepared the very best won't you.

Whats wrong with 2.5 bills per hour? It was solid carton load.

I believe Yellow had a "motivated" group beyond the purchase of Roadway.

There was a lack of direction, in hind sight, to (1) merge the brands, (2) consolidate and eliminate redundancies in the network and (3) foresee the downturn in the economy.

(Mind you all, there would STILL have been a significant reduction in the workforce, but it may have not been quite as severe.)

If the management group would have taken action in the beginning, there would have been a period of confusion in the marketplace, regarding branding, but once the YRC brand was recognized and the appropriate network established, there would have been a chance of success through the economic downturn.

Instead what we have had, is one band-aid after another without clear vision of purpose. When the goal is to outrun debt, we would all do what is necessary to "save the farm."

Hopefully, with this most recent opportunity, management will take a breath and continue to address the seriousness of the situation and take appropriate steps to return to what we do best.

If the company does not approach the rank and file as 'equals' in solving this problem, we will die of attrition.

It's fairly simple.

I've said it before and will again. As long as we are around there will be no mass hiring. Had we closed other companies would have had to hired qualified drivers as quickly as possible. Now they can train guy's on their own without having to hire 50 year olds and for less money.

2.5 is a great bill count when you break a trailer and have to move the freight to the other end of the dock. Happens all the time at 881. Foreman will not put trailer on other end of dock by loading doors.
1 set an hour by the time you run down the trailer that is still at the dock loading and the other is in the trailer shop trying to get door down. What were those computers good for anyway ?
1.5 stops per hour with heavy traffic and app time was at 7:30 and you don't punch in till 9 ?
An everyday occurrence here in the city of salt.
Oh and dispatcher to customer on phone we don't have anyone in that area today how about tomorrow ?

How about for now they fix something !
100 trailers and 70 tractors parked at 511
Any body else have a lot of parked equipment?

I saw a Jeff Foxworthy skit once where he was on the phone with the bank because he was behind on his car payment. He asked the guy from the bank if he would take a check. The guy said YES and Foxworthy said "hell i'll just pay it off then" !!! Maybe YRC can be a little more creative and start moving the money around payment to payment and keep ahead of the banks!!

Many of the tractors "parked" are in need of the million mile motor swap. Locally they went from 30 a month to 2 in December. This was according to the folks rebuilding the engines. Also, they have stopped the refurbish program on the trailers. Maybe now with the new MOU, this will start back up.

we could use a couple of tractors @ our EOL. Two would help us with quarterly PM's and normal breakdown situations.

Trailers, not so much. We are selling off our deadlines @ bargain prices.

I hear they make nice condos for desert rats....
