Yellow | Unable to lure new dockwrkrs, tapping work release inmates.

Rich Ganch, midwest vp, says company is exploring option of working with the department of corrections to get non driving, part time jobs filled by non violent prisoners in work release programs. Apparently in many hours the pay is too low to attract new hires.

What is the source of Mr. Ganch's comments please? A memo, a news article??? I really appreciate you posting and passing along information, but please connect it to an original source in the future.

I don't think you can compare working on a freight dock to flipping burgers in a HEATED restaurant.. Problem I see is there are way too many willing to accept something as long as it doesn't affect them..

$11.90 to start is better then Micky D's.. That's how management thinks.. I didn't think you were in management..

I'd prefer flipping burgers in a HEATED mickeyDs then freezing my buttt off on a frozen dock!

Also, all of us YRCF employees would love to know EXACTLY what barn/barns this VP moron is talking about so we can get prepared for the criminal invasion.

Think about it . . . convicted felons moving electronic products across the dock! Do any of you YRC guys practice critical thinking or do you just go directly full bore into Chicken-Little mode at the slightest whisper of rumor?

Working at YRC probably pays better then Correctional Industries.

Anyone remember "Midstates trucking" well thats what they were doing. Had Con's working their dock.(work release program for inmates)
Also remember what happened to Midstates trucking.
They closed went bankrupt.
Mid States (nonunion) was the original Aurora Fast Freight (union job) ran by the Hartman family . Yeah I remember Mid States had a guy driving a straight job truck that had to be off at a given time so that he could go back to jail every night .True Story . I don't think he was a dangerous inmate but non the less . They were a very undesirable place to work so they used prisoners . No body wanted to work at a place like that .

you are exactly correct.
I knew a few of their drivers, meeting them at stops. Aurora Fast Freight was on if my memory is correct Dearborn st. in Aurora.
Then they moved into part of yrc building in Lasalle,IL. And thats where they had the con's working.
I do remember that time that guy had to be off by a certain time so he could go back to jail.

If i was a shipper they would not have been my choice to ship with.
I dont care what the discounts are. JS

Don't be fooled. I know a few x-cons, and these men I'm proud to call my friends. One, for example, is the most righteous guy I know, and I'm proud to call him a friend. Harm a defenceless family member? You better hope the cops find you before I do. Doesn't make me a thief.

This is too funny... They want to fire people for being a minute late...They want to fire people for stealing time... So now they want to hire criminals people known for stealing, knowing they are completely trustworthy .. Classic!!! LOL yrcw deserves exactly what they are going to get!!! lol.. Then you have your ceo saying stupid stuff like get on board or quit!!! lol that was classic too... LOL
