We had 2 layoffs last week in Milwaukee . We did have 1 guy come back from leave of absence, but manager was' nt sure if that was why there was a layoff. Just wondering if other terminals have been seeing layoffs or not, either because guys are returning from LOA or because of downturn in business.

@ 230 we had our highest bill count of the week and on the same day they layed off 1 p&d driver. Seems kinda backwards to me.

How can there be layoffs when theres so much freight they have to re-inforce the docks to stave off their buckling!

Our TM usual says "GO"(General Office) told them too.
They can do this because they are now allowed to use casuals just about anytime they wish. Look for more layoffs and more casuals. Gonna 4 hour us to death- SOUNDS LIKE UPS TO ME !!!

some have been on and off lay off 20 or 30 times the last 2 years .
then they wonder why these guys take a LOA .
RV there is a greivence filed here at 653 because they are using the 4 hour guys to file in for men on vacation witch was suppose to be a big NO..NO . but you know how they are they will try anything they want and are local will probably say ITS OK THEY CAN DO THAT!!!!

With all the backroom deals made in metro NY, Brooklyn guys going to Deer Pk,LGI and Mt. Vernon, most if not all going back to 187 Brooklyn because they are backed up 28 loads. It was called a shake up or something to see how many needed at the others with Queens closing. (were afraid of guy's going into pool). Most people are where they want and (need) to be now and NO layoffs in sight!!!! Frt Very Heavy inbound and outbound in the Metro NY area let's hope it keeps up!!! Best of Luck to all!! We all need to work!
