How many 4/10 local bids do you have at your SC? Over 90% of our local bids are 4/10's. I'm wondering if this is the norm, or the result of a SCM going overboard to make his numbers look good while screwing his employees.

we have about 75 city and 20 of us are on the 4 10's....... we are all core route drivers with 0730 and 0800 start times.

How does a 4/10 screw the employees? We have had them in SBN since 2001. They went to 4/10s to avoid laying people off.

I believe he is referring to lost hours and lost OT.
We had a lot of people build lifestyles around consistent 45 to 50 hour weeks. Getting cut back to 35 to 38 hours a week hurts.

We've had 4/10 bids for years. Pretty much the most distant routes. Still average 45 hrs/wk. Only get shorted when freight really drops off. Then the 38 hrs can become a reality. No question though, 5 days (with a decent start time) mostly pays better than 4. Ya gotta love the day off though :icon_dance:

We dont have any. Id love an extra day off myself. Id give up 6 or so hrs of OT a week, but id be fine with that. Not saying that more money isnt better, but at this point, I need more time than extra $

Amen to that. If you can't handle that gravy schedule go get another job. I'm sure Conway can help you out in that department. Jeez.

I don't see how you can say 4/10's screw anybody----you bid that knowing what it is---nobody pulled the rug out from under you after the bid. The facts are that you may not get 40 hrs in 4 days, but you may also not get 40 in 5 days just as well---we are not guaranteed any hours, let alone overtime.

We don"t have any 4/10 bids either. Not enough drivers. If 90% of your bids are 4/10s you clearly have too many drivers.

I really wanted to bid 4-8"s but the boss wouldn't let me---no sense of teamwork--wanted to help out those that complain about not getting their hours.
