A couple of things about FMLA:
1) It has to be requested ahead of time.
2) Doctor has to approve it as necessary for one to care for themselves or a next of kin like mother, father, spouse or child.
You won't get FMLA for knocking off a day without going to great lengths up front to verify its need.

Nope.....Once U are approved for FMLA.......U just call in and say FMLA......thats it no other words needed........tthats the purpose of the paperwork to make them aware of your of your condition or situation...........( thats the intermitten part ofthe FMLA ).......Oh yes that's why your FMLA needs to be legit......Its Federal Law....for those who didn't know.

YRC Worldwide Teamster Employees Ratify Contract | YRC Worldwide | Drive on Together “My deepest thanks to our employees for their continued commitment to moving YRC Worldwide forward and putting us on the road to once again becoming a North American LTL industry leader. With this MOU extension, we took another significant step toward providing our employees thejob security they deserve while providing our prospective lenders and equity investors the path they need for the company to achieve a complete recapitalization and achieve a healthy capital structure,” statedJames Welch, chief executive officer of YRC Worldwide. ”The five-year extension includes important customer service enhancements, cost savings and a profit sharing plan for eligible IBT employees that is dependent on operating performance and our ability to become more competitive in the marketplace,” added Welch.

“We now move ahead with some of the most experienced transportation professionals in the industry and a more competitive wage and benefits package that will enable us to attract new members to our growing team. YRC Freight, Holland, Reddaway and New Penn emerge from this process with a renewed focus on achieving best-in-class performance in order to deliver great operating results for customers, employees and shareholders,” concluded Welch.

What I don't understand about this new policy (Or why the company has such a hard on for it) is this,
Why **** off Employees who take off with a valid Dr note? Why punish a Employee who has to take off for a Family emergency? (Spouse in Hosipital, Problem with a Child Ect,Ect) Why push the issue? Why make him/her file the paperwork? Really? Management wants to go down that road again after 60% of us vote to keep the frekin doors open? Sorry but the whole concept is CHILDISH!
Somebody correct me but according to the D.O.T. I cannot drive while ill or fatiuged correct? Somebody in Legal has to have the brains know that some little **** ass Manager is gonna hand out a letter to a driver who was tired and BAM! right to the DOT we go!
I understand abuse. I also understand the Company's position. But this "By the book" mentality is only going to get the Company a "By the book" attitude from everyone.
I wonder if the powers that be really thought this one out? Sounds like it came from the same _______________ that came up with no raises for Dockworkers in the new MOU!
I thought Management were better that that. Oh well, Back to the Jack Delaney (Ask an old roadway man about that Bum!) school of trucking we go!!!!

Notice no one is taking claim to sending this out. No name top or bottom or company letter head.

I noticed that also. Guess the invisible man dictates new company discipline policies. Now that the "local" grievance machine is weak, the committee is going to have their work cut out for them. Remember Rodgers and his moronic idea of a COOP before the summer months last year? Where is Mr. Rodgers now? Also, those 30,000 jobs we "saved" with this last yes vote, should probably decline by 6% before the year is over with this new policy.

And Welch/YRC wonders why BIPD & WC claims are up???

"Additionally, during the third quarter of 2013, we experienced adverse development in the severity of our bodily injury and property damage (BIPD) claims and recorded $4.4 million of an additional expense related to these claims as compared to the same period in 2012. We continue to see favorable workers' compensation trends as we advance our safety initiatives; however, we recorded $2.2 million of additional workers' compensation expense in the third quarter of 2013 compared to the same period in 2012. Even with the adverse development in BIPD, we were still able to decrease our outstanding letters of credit by an additional $21.2 million, or 5% during the third quarter," concluded Welch.

One person you can ask is sinC... She would know the answers you seek... Since the MOU has passed...She may not be required to be here monitoring this site. But if someone would know She would!!!

Thanks to all the f*$#@n' morons who voted yes for this ****. I hope you're all the first they try to **** can with this new bull**** policy. Keep hiring casuals as our replacements, because sooner or later they'll try to get rid of all of us...:fingure:

they can't get driver's to apply, but hey lets screw with the ones we got and plus the DOT & OHSA rules for driving while sick should play in with this too ???

They thought it out as well as management at Oak Harbor thought out the same policy and we know how that worked out for them just a month ago.

"Punishing workers for exercising their right to refuse driving assignments is against the law," said David L. Mahlum, OSHA's acting regional administrator in Seattle. "A company cannot place its attendance policies ahead of the safety of its drivers and that of the public."

Maybe it came from the "5.5 Million Dollar Man" himself. Since he got his check not much left to do other than torment some peasants.

If I turn in a doctors note and receive any form of discipline there will be no waiting for any committee, I will file a complaint with OSHA immediately.

Yep. That sure does look like a real document. Funny part is, it only has shown up at one place in the whole system.

Is it possible this was created solely by local management? It seems strange with no letterhead or signature and it hasn't appeared anywhere else.

Yeah, that's the ticket! Kinda like the IRS scandal was all concocted at the Cincinnati office.
