What do you all have at the break you run out of? Hog board or wheel board? Straight line seniority or classification seniority? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hog board is the only way to go? We all did our time at the bottom and worked our way up? I did my time and didn't like it. Why are you different?

Why so defensive? All the man did was ask a question...
:smiliewhs: I'm just one little man in one little town here and am curious about how it works. There have been questions on it here and the answers seem to be elusive. One of the things about this business that intrigues me is the difference in the work rules around the country.

003/// Hog board, straightline....problem is, when high seniority guys call in at top of hour and ask whats available and then say, "put me on" and take the good run, when a much junior man would have gotten it. Thats an integrity thing and an issue the company allows and should not, an area where a rule should be in place that states (a 2 hr add to availability, etc.. ) Our bids run in bid windows (usually 6 hours) so can be called anywhere in a 6 hour period,, that stinks!! lay runs have 2-3 bids in a window, turns have 1.. so wait for 6 hours to be called sometimes, sometimes called right at beginning, some consistent, some not.. sure benefits company!! if not called, they call and cancel at end of window and option to extra board.

That seems to be an attitude that a lot have. "I did my time at the bottom, you can too"....pretty selfish (Me'ster) attitude. I feel the brotherly love!

I don't have the problem with seniority rules. My problem is simply the attitude that develops after doing your time!

Hog board/wheel board will always divide the crowd. Bottom half likes wheel board, top half likes hog board. I noticed road language giving a level at which the board should be cut. That would be indicative of a wheel board since a hog board wouldn't have top seniority guys losing out on work.

Abfer with all due respect if our rank and file keep voting yes for these contracts that give our freight away to these non union drivers you won't have to worry about hog board or wheel board .we will be wondering what non union outfit we will be working at.just an observation

That's the way it is headed. "Oh we can't hire anyone, we won't tell you why we don't like any of the applicants but we can't hire them but we do need to move our freight so we'll use subcontractors who we don't even screen".

5000 posts! I would say you are are on a "hog board" here.

At UPSF we are required to wear a uniform and even steel toes as road drivers. Then you see them handing freight off to people wearing pajamas, lacking hygiene, and wearing steel toed flip flops. Amazing how the company attitude changes when they find people to work cheap.

Dayton-hog board, come back in 10,12,or14. its still all luck of the draw. Work all u want on the extra board as long as u got the hours and the whiskers. No calling and saying whadda ya got. Pick ur call time when u come in and take ur chances.
