More and more contractors are being used causing a cut in line-haul runs. This money out of our pocket! This will force line haul drivers to eventually go back into p&D operations causing a bump down hitting lower service rank employees.Lay offs are inevitable if this practice continues. what are the options to retain job security? I understand it is feasible for longer runs, but 250 miles or less for our next day break freight? c'mon !

Amen on that, we are seeing a reduction in our runs at our barn. A big increase of freight at the fac having to be worked. Wish long haul carriers were never introduced to the ltl side.

Wish we had a union it would be better here!

Good luck with that now...too late! You could shut down an entire state, but the sub service carriers would just skip over that area. Freight would still move and they would bus in dsr's from other service centers to cover your terminals freight. Think about it. You cant go to work anymore without a knife in your back, all that said even if a union would help you out. Thay are in trouble too.....

Yea you are correct .. we load to englands to XLA with misc break freight nightly ... it is roughly 180 miles one way

This is a non union company. I prefer it not to have union non union debate .. we have a forum for that .. Teamsters|Non-Union Debate Forum If you keep the chatter going I will have to get my internet stick and play the big bad moderator ... please dont make me do that LOL

You can't see it, but he keeps it right beside his desk...
