FedEx Freight | FedEx Freight accidents by State 2years

I think what these so called news channels should report on is all the foreign drivers that are involved in accidents, and how are US gov would love to have that Mexican border opened up so all us good payed drivers loose are jobs...

Is it time to go the "Conway's" way and put cameras in all Fedex trucks? I really hope it doesn't come to that :/
Probably wouldn't have done much good in this case, everything was destroyed.
It isn't a bad idea to get your own dash cam though, just got 1 myself, since I recently had a 4-wheeler hit me and run

It is possible that if the said tractor struck the car first that the impact ripped open the fuel tank and dumped fuel onto the muffler which might explain the fire also.

Diesel fuel won't ignite spraying on a hot muffler that easily. It doesn't have as low of a flash point as gasoline.

Don't try this but I have heard you can put lit cigarettes out in a cup of diesel fuel.. Again... Don't anyone try this

just at Freight we have around 3,000 road drivers. Avg. dispatches per day are 4 to 5,000. Most reviews on any companies national avg. are based on daily dispatches. I just got in this argument with another driver last year who pointed out the same thing. I asked him how many drivers they had there he said 300 average dispatch every 2 days. I tried to explain to him our national accident avg is below 1% on accidents, HE DIDNT GET IT...

Back in my party days, we were drinking and smoking in the garage and putting our butts in a Pepsi bottle filled with liquid, the next morning we realized that liquid was gas.

The last I heard it is against policy to have non company video equipment in a FXF vehicle.

Old National tractor due to be relocated because it had neither DPF or catalytic converter.
Trailers were empty. Not sure whether or not it had VORAD, but will find out.

Won't explain who Kevin Rutherford is if you have listened to road dog channel on satellite radio you probably know. Anyway, he spent 3-4 hrs on Friday compiling a statistical analysis comparing fedex safety to other companies. He looked at the Forbes 100 list of biggest carriers in the US and randomly selected 50 for comparison to fedex. He looked up Miles driven in a year and number of crashes and came up with a ratio. The safest company of all was fedex express. Freight was 17.... Well above average. What dumb morons like this on the news don't realize is that there are god damn thousands of fedex trucks all across the country so of course shear number of accidents is going to sound bad. It is a shame that media outlets won't put this in perspective. Fedex trucks travel BILLIONS of miles a year so of course are going to record more accidents than a small Joe schmoe company. They are also much more noticeable. Not just due to numbers but the fact that every trailer is a giant billboard. They get really noticed when one is in the ditch, however people don't remeber the names of the trucks in the ditch they never heard of before.

The 2007 was the first year Volvo sold tractors equipped with the computer override tractor braking system now DOT mandated on all semis'. I totaled one under similar conditions a couple years ago.

What computer override tractor braking system? I drive a 2012 Mack, has no such system.

FedEx does have a reputation and it was earned. Granted, there are a ton of trucks and drivers out there, but there are still quite a few that can drive for ****. That statement in no way reflects on the CA accident. I am just going off what I have observed while working at FedEx and after.

The company is partly to blame for this. They put green horns behind the wheel that have little or no respect for the equipment and the carnage it can cause. They also foster an attitude of hurry, hurry, hurry. Gotta' hit the numbers, gotta' make the gate. Someone new in the industry can't separate the bull**** and just do it right and safe.

Remember, every action you make is a reflection on you, your company and the industry.

While I do not always see eye to eye with you hit the nail squarely on the head, It's sad that this happened and all the number posting and bragging about how safe fx is not going to change a thing. IMo it sounds like everybody is making excuses for what happened , it's an accident they happen no matter how much training or how many safety meetings you are required to attended they happen .
