Holland | Losing Drivers

I think I would rather sleep in a Wal-Mart truck (not moving) than some of the motels and bunk houses I have been in. A clean big bunk truck with APU isn't all bad !!!

Lincoln is the only one that really bothers me, others like Rockford and a couple others are not great, but L7ncoln is the only one were I have seriously thought about refusing to stay. I sure don't miss waking up in the middle of the night in January with six inches of fresh snow and needing a bathroom at a truck stop!

They also have a parts room, complete shop on site. Just think the shop guys not standing in the weather or waiting on a part for weeks on end. There is a whole new concept...taking care of the equipment. Their units actually see soap and water on a regular basis.!

i'm hearing that a bunch from CI are/have left lately. A driver told me 5 city just this week..headed to Kenworth in Chillicothe

R u guys missing p/u's and not makin deliveries and having to wait till 10am to hit the street? R u guys having to lease trailers and tractors cause you don't have enough equipment? If so ur in the same boat new penn is in.

Yea they have always had a big shop and parts room at GR, sucks at our place ever getting anything done!! Always repair at next PM! If a seat is broke they write seat ordered but it never comes!! Wrote one up for bad vibration the other day and the mechanic wrote on the DVIR ( Tires Need Balancing) and sent it out that night with somebody else!!! Nothing ever seems to get fixed! And if it does get fixed it's 3 or 4 weeks and it's half assed!!! Just don't get it!!!!!

I agree it is to bad that a driver cannot get a simple repair made. The get it fixed at the next terminal or wait till you get to your home terminal doesn't help a bit when they pull you around back and write you up. It is reportable to both the company and the driver (dac) and the point system against your CDL. Yrc doesn't care, it's always the drivers fault.! Haz-mat not secure...line haul drivers fault, load bars not in place line haul drivers fault...you didn't inspect your load and unit before leaving. How long will it be before the new equipment, if it even shows up, will be in need of repairs because of the way they refuse to address the basic repairs needed.? When I was line haul, I got one of the last 27000 series tractors, in October I had a air control valve go bad. A 48.00 part, my unit sat there with the hood up for four months then they received the wrong part.! It was six more weeks before I got my unit back. You can't fix stupid...! there is some major stupid going on and it affects every driver who tries to get repairs made. Your safety is number one at Holland unless it costs a dollar. Why ? Wonder why guys are leaving...this could just be adding to the, I have had enough...! ?

Monday it will be 52 days my truck has been broke down in BI, it's a 28 series with regen problems.

I have a 28 series Volvo also. It wasn't getting hot enough to complete the re gen turns out it had an injector plugged up. These trucks have been nothing but problems.

I know what your saying, My assigned tractor will run for a couple trips and then be down for a week or so!! Most of the time it will just sit on the yard for several days before they even take it to the shop to fix it!!

There is a gal in charge of service in Michigan now, I called her and she said they were having ongoing discussions with Volvo about what to do with it, and if things go well I might get it back by the end of the week. I figure in another month I'll call her again.

We hired two LH drivers in RA. They left out together driving a beautiful set of sterlings. One made it to GB before he broke down. The other one turned around came back and picked his buddy up went back to RA and said here's your keys to this junk WE QUIT ! LMAO Also we have another city man who's last day is friday.

Maybe Warden Ware should open up his eyes and look around.? I meet ex roadway and yellow drivers every day at my new job...we have several holland guys here, but I haven't bumped into them. Friday night, I did run into an ex- sikeston line haul driver at the fuel island, he was passing thru on his way home. It seems funny that I have been treated better last week than all of the past five years at holland. Friday evening my trainer had to end his work week. When I went up to the window the lady asked me did I want to run on since I had 10.75 hours left, or since it was my first week out if I wanted to go home. I told her that tomarrow was my Wedding Anniversary...she turned to the transportation manager and told him that I was ending my work week and she was setting me up for Wednesday 8 am start. That's four days off ! She said congrats and to enjoy my long week end. My trainer is ex-roadway...told me to get use to it...I could have ran my last 3 hrs, then take a break. Took a break and ran my hours the next day out, or simply go home. The best thing is I won't get a letter for being off...oh how I will miss not getting one to add to my collection.! At least I know that my week starts on Wednesday 8 am each week.

One of the guys texted me last week saying that every time they brag about the new equipment that is due, the numbers get smaller and smaller. If they don't take better care of the new equipment than they have been doing, it won't be any better than the 2800's .! In fact my old 27 series...Is a yard anchor again...the engine is going to rust with all of the hood up time that it gets.! Who ever got it as an assigned tractor...will be enjoying an old sterling most of the time. It makes me wonder...if new trucks are due...why haven't they set up for DEF at the fuel islands.? I have to get off of here and answer a boat load of texts from the holland guys.....

If I started my work week Wednesday morning my wife would make me get a part time job! That's a fact Jack!
