Did anyone else get the memo about a driver valet system 'in effort to curtail overtime'?

Or is this specific to our OpCo?

We tried it and it lasted about as long as my.............attention span...lol, just didn't work for us I guess, its no more far as I know.

I don't know how it's going at our house. Looks like it'll be a bid position coming up with this years' blocks. We're running out of a shuttle yard now, so I don't get into Wilsonville much (or ever). All we heard from our side is that we have 15 minutes after pulling in from route to post trip, load the return shuttle and leave. Run, run, run...

You got me confused...you running out of a shuttle yard? I am so confused...the valet position was at the warehouse, they unload returns and fuel trucks ect., it didn't work here, lasted a few weeks then it was gone without a word.

How can anyone be expected to post trip, load returns and be gone in 15 min, 15 min is a minimum for post trip, bare minimum, I would ignore that mess, you all are better than that, IDK why our mgmt even goes there, they know better.

Yeah, we are resident drivers in Bend now; running out of a shuttle yard. David takes sets back and forth, I'm on local route. Yes, the valet position is in the yard, it would affect the shuttle ( whether David or I are running it) but not us on a route position. I was just curious if the other OpCo's were doing the same or if it was our local idea...

I was wrong about the time, but to by much. They give us 20 minutes, which in my mind is still not enough for an effective post trip and finish. I'll continue to do as I need. I refuse to drop my own standards.

They have never cared about overtime over here, I have worked 50+ a week for over 10 years, they did try to cut the mechanics overtime a few years ago, but kept being short on equipment, and went back to letting them have overtime.

We had a superviser go to Chicago for a week to help out last year
when he came back he told me something that blew my mind.
when a driver was out on his run he had to keep driving and unloading till
he was out of hours they were then told to park the truck and they sent a cab to
pick them up and take them back to the yard. This was done on a daily basis.
WTF

So David is a shuttle driver, how does that work out for the two of you? Tell Brother David hello from his Brother Teamster counter part in the redneck part of the nation!!

Where are you out of Lizard? We had a couple of our supervisors helping out in Chicago too.

Bigblk, on the other side of the mtn , I've worked 65-70 every week minus really just a handful of them, for two years. It was the norm for me, and a lot of other drivers. But I heard corporate came in and said cut overtime. Lizard, we've never been told to get a cab back to Sysco, but we work up to our hours, then supervisors run to pick guys up and bring them in. Yes, GT, he's on shuttle. I've got experience in doubles, but just finished the Sysco test, so that now we can switch off when needed. He doesn't like shuttle, misses route and the customers. But here my 1000 cases a day are jammed into a 32', where over the mtn I'd have a 42' or longer. I miss the room, lol. I'd welcome some windshield time once in a while! And he says hi back. :) Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner

How does he get to Portland? Hwy 20 and up or 20/22? It is interesting to me to learn about how other houses shuttle!

We have two choices. His shuttle is the same as my reverse was last year:

Down 20/22 to I5 ( santiam pass) or 97 to 26 across hood. Either is about the same, but hood is safer trip as there's more support if something were to go wrong. And it's a better drive!
