In the early 1990's, Yellow tried to start up a regional carrier of their own. It was to be Yellow Regional, totally union. The Union would not get behind this idea because Yellow wanted to make the top out pay $1 less per hour than Yellow long haul. The Teamsters screwed themselves out of thousands of new employees paying union dues, all over $1 top out pay. Yellow went on to buy Saia and the rest of the sad story is history as they say. I have always thought that this was one time the company actually had a great idea and the Union was too hardheaded with the Union stance. I was just thinking "what if" that had taken place. Where would we be today(all of us).

union is digging their own grave , with all the BS things they have done & keep doing !!! they have become the BIG GREEDY CORPORATION , that they started out fighting years ago !!!! and before you say it No I won't Quit , that is always the answer when you disagree with them ??? like they are GOD & don't never doubt their word ??? will after seeing whats going on with -15% givebacks & pension , I will doubt their word !!!!!!

Preston owned Saia. When Yellow bought Preston they got Saia and another carrier, I think it was Bowie? Saia and Bowie were south, Preston was east as far west as St Louis.

Yellow would have bankrupted themselves attempting to start a regional carrier that they would have ran like a longhaul. A dead yellow would have been good for the entire industry.

Doesn't matter today. YRC owns 3 regionals which have grown by approximately 6-8 % each and/every quarter for the past 3 years.
Anyone can research and locate the earnings growth on the YRC website.
Need help, just ask me and I will post the links.
After a 31 MILLION loss, in the 1st quarter of 2014, I expect YRC returning to the concession forum.
YRC will plead/beg, for monetary relief, before the end of 2015

I still think that the corporation will MERGE them all under one roof...........
Remember when we were told that they will never merge YRC and RDWY ? The first of many lies..............

My opinion is YRC will try to split/spin off our subsidiaries within 5 years, like Roadway did with Caliber Systems back in 1996.

Agree with you 100% on that by 2015 they will back asking for more monetary relief !!!! cause they know they have the SHEEP fooled into voting yes every time !!!!

Roadway Services spun off Roadway Express. Roadway Services then changed their name to Caliber. Roadway Services spun off Roadway Express debt free.

Back When; with 705 they basically had that contract. There was the freight agreement,...There was also the cartage agreement.
Cartage guys got i believe it was like $1.50 a hour less then freight agreement guys did.
I dont know what happened to it. probably went out with the companies going out of business.

They might merge them, but i dont believe YRC will be in the mix.
YRC has tried several times to go regional. and they always fail at it.
there system is not set up for it. and i doubt they ever will be.
I remember when it took them 5 days to move freight from Shorewood IL. to Elk Grove Il. Thats approx. 40 miles.

So maybe have YRCW spin off YRC, debt free, and see who survives. Kinda like what Roadway Services did with Roadway Express.

And what sense would that make. Yrc is a YRCW co. The rest were not. So spin off the regionals and proportion the debt to each subsidiary by their operating income then let the chips fall where they may

YRCW owns YRC and all the regionals.
